I wasnt sure if it was a mutation or something but thanks for the quick response. It was the Brazil tub that had it so its probaly just aggressive.

Im getting in on this late, but im curious to see the results. Ive personally been debating on spawning to coir/verm, following Damion5050's coir tek. Look forward to seeing results!

Coir, verm, gypsum is a really good all around substrate. Ive never used the bucket tek but for this grow i did for convience and time. Everything seems to be going great so stay tuned. And i didnt follow damions recipe. I used franks coir/verm substrate prep and instead of pasturizing i just used a bucket.

Hey guys so im preparing my casing layer as we speak. But i have a question. I always have a hard time telling when a tub is 100%. To me its not the same looking white as a jar bc its mixed with a dark brown substrate. To me it looks like theyre almost ready to case. What do you think? Brazil

Albino

I would go ahead with the casing. The Brazil looks like it may have a few spots on the left, but it also could just be the lighting. Either way, if it needs to colonize or thicken up a but, it will under the casing. You may know that lot of people fruit at spawn these days anyway.

I dont get why you would fruit at spawning. I feel like it would lead to drying and all that.

Ive been reading some stuff and i found out that rhizomorphic growth (little spikes reaching in the air) means the mycelium is done colonizing and looking for more food. So that means the Brazil tub finished before the Albino. This brazil strain is awesome. Im casing the Brazil tomorow and im going to wait a few days for the Albino.

That's one reason why I don't fruit at spawn. Although it is a very popular method. Just wanted to mention that it wouldn't do much harm for you to case and fruit at this stage in the game. Blackout posted a link yesterday on benifits of longer consolidation periods. I'll see if I can find and post the thread

Okay thanks, good to know. I guess people would rather not wait a week before turning the lights on. Lets see how fast the Brazil will tear through this casing.

Looking good! I have a friend who is about to start AA+ and Brazilians in a couple of days. Can't wait to see how this ends up, provides a bit of a bench mark. You said these were started with MS? Very nice indeed.

Yeah its just multispore. And thanks man. Btw the Brazilian finished colonizing in 6 days. The Albino still has a few days to go.

I believe my friend is going to use LC to inoculate. But seeing how fast the Brazil colonize perhaps he won't wait!

Different strains of mushrooms have different growing characteristics because theyre from different geographic locations. Yes you can isolate specific chatacteristics and growing patterns but these different strains have evolved for where they are from to survive. But yes MS is just a bunch of genetics to carry on the evolutionary diversity of the species and i got lucky having this aggressive strain.
