I inoculated the Albino jars on 10/22 and the Brazil jars on 10/29 and theyre almost at 100% colonization. I only have pictures of my brazil jars from 1 week ago but i WILL be uploading all the jars later tonight. I used WBS as my grain following Franks perfect wbs tek. I added gypsum and fresh brewed coffee to the 24 hour soak. Then i obviously pc'ed for 90 min at 15psi. I inoculated both strains from MS and only had 1 jar from the albino that didnt grow because i didnt disperse the spore solution as evenly as i thought but live and learn. Theyve been on a shelf with indirect light at roughly 70F.

Why coffee? I have only heard that being used for sclerotia. Not that coffee doesn't grow mold easily.

Its beneficial for the growth of mycelium. Nutrients and what not except sclerotia should only have HALF STRENGTH coffee.

Obviously it works, why else would i be using it? Why would a trusted cultivator use it? Bc it works. If you properly sterilize your grains, youre not going to get a contam unless your innoculating techniques arent sterile. And as a side note i can edit and add to my post as i wish. I made mistakes and wanted to correct/add things. Im not new around here, i only post when i wish to share. Im not flooding the board by editing so...

Im getting ready to spawn my grain to the coir/verm/gypsum substrate tomorow. Im using the bucket tek to prepare my substrate. I would pasturize it on the stove but i just dont really have time for it. I know coir is pretty contam resistant so the bucket tek should suffice. My ratio is 1 brick of coir, 2 quarts verm, 1/4 cup of gypsum and 5 quarts water.

I soak my grains for 20 to 30 min before i spawn them to my substrate. Theyve been in the jars for over a month. They need to be rehydrated.
Also my brazil jars are fully colonized and ready to spawn tomorow. Pretty impressive that the Albino AA+ jars were inoculated a week before the Brazil jars but they finished at the same time. Brazil is definetly a nice strain.

Enjoy

Oh yeah i forgot to mention. Im going to do a casing layer for these tubs. The more i read about casing the substrate, it seems like ill get better results. I know cubensis dont need casing layers but it provides a perfect microclimate for primordia formation and ill also be patching to get an even pinset. I usually dont case but thete's always a 1st. Ill just be using leftover substrate for the casing layer, nothing special.

Well they've proven to be fast colonizers so far! I wonder how fast they will rip through that sub? My AA+ has almost fully colonized my top coir layer on day 5... So I wanna guess 5 days till casing

Im betting that the Brazil colonizes the sub before the Albino will. Im gonna say 7 days till casing. Brazil is a week older than the Albino yet it got spawned at the same time. I didnt do anything different between the 2 eather. Its gonna be awesome to see if casing/patching will give me a bigger, more even pinset too.
