I'm not sure John Stockton gets enough love. He averaged a double-double career in ppg (13.1) and assists pg (10.5). More than that, he holds the record for most career assists -- 15,806 -- AND the most career steals -- 3,265 -- in NBA history. These records will likely never be broken, the way the NBA works now.
Should he be considered the greatest point guard ever? I sort of think so. When you dominate two of the five statistical categories, you're a superstar. The next closest to him in assists is over 3,700 away.
If you look up point guard in the dictionary, his picture should be there, all things considered.

I think most sports writers would put him in the top five.
Can't go all-time when he worked a tandem with Karl and couldn't get a ring.
I do think his greatness is not fully recognized by your typical fan. That Jazz team is easily the best no ring team in the history of the NBA.

He was great. and he played with Karl Malone and later Hornechek . but they were no match for the Bulls and peaked at the wrong time. Houston stepped in those 2 years when Jordan retired and won both years. Utah never took the Bulls to 7. IDK I don't think they will ever win one, maybe it's demographics, maybe its religion, but Stockton, Malone, Sloan and Hornachek, is a matchup they will never achieve again. They seem decent, but if they started to suck for 3 years they could get draft picks, but with the lottery you have to suck and get lucky. One way or another the NBA is going to figure out a way for the Lakers to be great again. .

I've been finding my interest in sports starting to wane due to the predictability of the narrative.

Totally
Gotta stay true to your main teams. Fuck the rest though
Stockton was the man, but a serious asshole supposably. Quiet too, so that's why no one talks about him. Also he is white in a black mans game
