Just picked up some more goat meat. Found a pack of goat liver. Never had that before. Thinking I'm going to use curry powder with that. Goat makes an excellent curry dish. Pretty much any spice goes well with goat.

Sounds good. Goat is a nice meat. I think it tastes like a cross between beef and lamb.
I prefer to butcher animals instead of paying someone else to do it. A whole goat has a lot of usable parts. The heart and liver and kidneys are all edible. If you clean out the small instetine it is good to eat too; it fries up a lot like bacon. When you do it yourself you see everything thats there and can use it all and cut it how you want. The chops he gives you are probably the ribs trimmed and cut into chops. I'm not sure what he's cutting up for your steaks.

I had goat saagwala from the local Indian restraunt Monday and it was amazing. It's so much tastier than mutton or lamb.

Took 3 wethers to auction today. Got 250 a head and was hoping for 350. They were far from the first in line and a lot of buyers had already got their quota. These were good males from artificial insemination. Seed from some top scoring bucks. The breeding market isn't good right now. Saw some bucks and withers go for 350 but we didn't get that. The buyer was from Missouri and is going to fatten them up and ship them to slaughter in the east coast. Be thankful food is as cheap as it is, cause farmers aren't getting rich!

At $18 per entree, maybe the restaurateurs are the ones getting rich.

Everybody takes a slice. At 18 a dinner that's cheap. Goat steaks are 24.99 a lbs. ground goat is 10 a lbs. about 100 to 350 for a goat that meats out at 50 lbs plus 95 slaughter & packing. Best hope is break even and maybe just maybe make a dollar.

Are you raising more goats Morel?
I'm down to one turkey. She was supposed to be for Christmas. But we still have turkey in the freezer from the Thanksgiving hen. The male went in October.
She's the last one left. I guess that's the downside to slaughtering them yourself. If they stick around long enough they start to feel like pets. I've been telling myself that her time is the spring... We'll see.

The goats are a small family hobby and business. Kid about 12 does. Thinking about kidding 2x a year. Breeding market is drying up. Lot's of locals got in the biz at the same time. Not a lot of money in it but it's rewarding. I do my part for the meat.

Those goats just come out ready to go don't they? Running and jumping and playing by 2 days old, busting into theirmom's udders like little furry wrecking balls..... And human women think they got it rough breast feeding? Shit tell them to watch 2 or 3 baby goats smacking that milk bag....

You must have a nice setup to maintain that many animals. I hope the market picks up in your area. Goat is so popular all over the world. I know a lot of people from Africa and no big get-together is complete without cooking up a goat. Demand is definitely going to rise over time.

It's the healthiest red meat on Earth.
My mom and stepdad bought in the area of 14 acres. It had a barn and old house. They built a house and large building in the woods. Grandparents moved a double wide where the old house was. Also built other structures.
I just help out for a little pride and a deal for meat. Mom babies the goats too much to make any profit. It's a numbers game. They are going to have to start making money soon. We had talked of growing medical but it's a federal crime and state won't allow me to. Ohio can suck a few Russian ICBMs for all I care. It's a facist state.

"Fascism is an open terrorist dictatorship of the most reactionary, the most chauvinistic, the most imperialistic elements of the financial capital... Fascism is neither the government beyond classes nor the government of the petty bourgeois or the lumpen-proletariat over the financial capital. Fascism is the government of the financial capital itself. It is an organized massacre of the working class and the revolutionary slice of peasantry and intelligentsia. Fascism in its foreign policy is the most brutal kind of chauvinism, which cultivates zoological hatred against other peoples."
I never thought of Ohio this way,

What can I say, it's a melting pot.
Yes it's fascist. Second largest prison population under California. You can drive all the way from the west coast and never see a cop, until you cross the "Welcome to Ohio" sign.
I live in the second most hard county against OVI. People get a year very easily.
I was in jail with a guy that was there for not reporting LESS INCOME to child support.
Trust me, Ohio is extremely fascists. The public sector has been run into the ground by Republicans. They think that getting tough on working class is going to solve problems. All it did was get more people hooked on junk.

Not really supposed to be a political thread but:
Definition of fascism
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early instances of army fascism and brutality — J. W. Aldridge>
It's very common in the states to try to unify by calling us Americans. The individual is seen as a source of sin by Christianity and crime by the state. Individuality is a liberal movement.
If you watch the laws that get passed they constantly are working on keeping the rich richer and the poor working for the rich. They do suppress working class people and their needs.
It's a very strong control in Ohio, as seen in the HUGE prison complexes!
They passed the MOST restrictive medical cannabis law in the world. It's a largely Caucasian and republican control in Ohio. Most of the people in prison are poor and the minorities outnumber their ratio of citizenship.
Are you from Ohio or just living here under a rock?

I mean shit, they shot a kid for a toy gun and being black.
It is a terrorist state.
If they can't put charges on you they will send you to the state funny farm. That's a fact.
It's as bad as the Soviet Union. Likely to get even worse!
