Is it ok after my shoebox is colonized to just put it in my regular sgfc that i use for pf cakes with the shoebox lid off? Basically like a tray?

Just a straight up white bag over that sucker? Then what pull it once or twice a day to fan and mist?

I like that even better lol simplicity is key. No watering necessary till between the second flush (dunk or mist)?

Beautiful! Thank you for lending a hand as i try and step it up into the world of bulk. Your teks and input are a huge inspiration. You definitely got 5shrooms from me and for good reason brother! I say TC tag for ya. Glad i decided to go this route rather than top fruit. If all goes well this will really step it up from pf cakes. Thank you for all your help and input!

When you make it your own fruiting chamber do you modify it in any way munch? I was throwing around the idea of taking another 6.5 qt container and drilling it out in the 2x2 grid like a sgfc only on the 5 sides (since its lacking a lid) kind like a dub tub without poly. You think that would work. It seems like the same principal as bod was talking about with throwing a bag over it with slits with the added bonus of being used many times over, and i have plenty of those containers

the tubs in my picture are unmodified. the lids are snapped all the way on. i don't give them any sort of special treatment. for this particular box, which is available at all krogers, king soopers, city markets, and probably lots of other grocery stores for $1 a piece. i've been using them for a few years and I started out modifying them but the ultimately found unmodified worked fine and was foolproof.

I like the "turn it into its own fruiting chamber" idea. I'll have to try that. This pic is my latest shoebox fruiting now, 2qts oat spawn to CV in an unmodified tub.

6 qt and yes its 1:1 any more and they wouldnt fit inside but really its about the sub depth and 1:1 gets me to a nice spot that performs well. and if they grow too tall i just pop a 2nd tub on top to make it a dub tub.

So this is what i was talking about kinda a dub tub but with a 2x2 grid drilled like a sgfc. You think it will work? If not i can dial it in with micropore tape or just make a top with poly holes. Also during the spawn should i snap the lid tight or leave a small gap for ge?

The top tub is to just show the idea the bottom tub has its own lid on right now but it latches pretty tight. Thats why i ask about latching it or leaving a small gap for ge Bump to get input on top tub design

unbump.
you got 4 decent ideas plus what you got in mind. not much else you can do with a shoebox.
a single shoebox in a mono

trays in a chamber(before sgfc)with perlite..

pick a good one and try it out. none are bad ideas or anything.

I just thought it may play off your bag principle bod. Instead of the slits the small number of holes that can be drilled in the top 6qt container could work for fae. If not its got consolidation time and i can scrap the idea and go with the bag. I also got a bunch more cheap 6qt shoeboxes to try munches unmodified 1:1 cause i have 4 qt jars knocked and almost at 100%

I just don't like having totes that people ask questions about because there's holes in them.

I'm in a good position with that, no one to question me here. But i definatly get what get saying which is why I'm trying to get the mini no hole mono down. That would be ideal for my needs.

I think about moving or having to toss out eventually. Not what you want in trash or in your truck. I like reusable things too

Understandable i though about this with the 64qt sgfc i had more so than this baby box. Might have to cut that big fucker in pieces and toss it during a demo. The 6qt is my frog catching container. Got to keep the little buggers alive
