Problem with trich panachoi? UPDATE
    #23845620 - 11/18/16 03:31 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

So a friend sent me this little guy a week or so ago... It looked great before he sent it but when I got it he noticed a problem on the top... Well it's been a week now and it seems to be getting worse...
It's like it's being hollowed out between the ribs at the top.... Anyone know what's going on?

First photo is before I got it, second photos are from today... You can clearly see something isn't right... So what can I do?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like rot. Sometimes it goes away on its own but if not it will spread down the cactus unless you cut the tip off. Perhaps caused by too much moisture.

Water 1 x a month if you are in northern hemisphere during the winter.

Looks like over watering.

Not rot. Not overwater. Its most likely a caterpillar. Ive had that same stuff happen to several of mine til i find the culprit. Squash it and and green goop, obviously, shoots out. Look for it. Its there somewhere. Sometimes its fatal if it burrows deep enoigh. Several killed my years old loph caespitose. Not alwasy fatal but it may be. Just my wxperience.

OK guys... It was barely watered before sending and I haven't even watered it yet... It's indoors because it's cold out and I don't want it go dormant...

All I have done is spray it with very little bit of water to rinse off the airoles...

I guess I won't water it for a few weeks?
If it gets worse what do I do?  Cut off the top?

I seriously don't see how it could be rot.
.and at the very tip... Doesn't rot usually occur at the base???

Yeah let me get right on it... I'll bioasses the suspected psychadelik catapillar poop.

All jokes aside... If I don't see the culprit and it gets even worse... Should I just cut the fucking top off?  I mean it looks like it's wrecked anyway...

Someone please give me some serious advice here :/

Try a spray with dr bronner's, boiled tobacco, perhaps some essential oils.
