Aliens are all around you, says Ivy League professor * 4
    #23845413 - 11/18/16 02:31 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

http://nypost.com/2016/11/18/aliens-are-all-around-you-says-ivy-league-professor/

Quote:

Alien life is behind the mysteries of the universe, according to a radical new theory.

Ancient non-human life forms morphed into the physical world and are the driving force behind mind-boggling quantum physics and phenomena like dark matter, according to a Columbia University astrophysicist.

The expert says our universe is the remains of intelligent alien life that controls all aspects of the physical world — from gravity to the speed of light.

The theory helps to explain the great mysteries of the cosmos and also answers why we have yet to find intelligent life beyond our planet, Professor Caleb Scharf says.

In an article for science journal Nautilus, the radical thinker wrote that alien life could exist in the behavior of subatomic particles and the expansion of the universe.

“Perhaps hyper-advanced life isn’t just external. Perhaps it’s already all around,” he said.

“It is embedded in what we perceive to be physics itself.

“In other words, life might not just be in the equations. It might be the equations.”

He points to a theory that suggests alien life forms intelligent enough to reach us will have already turned themselves into living machines.

Humanity too faces this prospect when our creations overtake our own intelligence — a point dubbed “singularity.”

Taking this a step further, Scharf says hyper-advanced aliens may have gone beyond turning themselves into machine creatures and gone as far as becoming a complex physical system.

“If you’re a civilization that has learned how to encode living systems into different [materials], all you need to do is build a normal-matter-to-dark-matter data-transfer system: a dark matter 3D printer,” Scharf explained.

His theory centers around the idea that we have not seen complex life apart from our own because it already exists around us.

“We don’t recognize advanced life because it forms an integral and unsuspicious part of what we’ve considered to be the natural world,” he wrote.

A lot of high university professors use psych drugs like LSD and they go a little crazy with stuff like this.

I could see him keeping his position but becoming notorious/ blacklisted due to his "eccentric beliefs", you may be right though and he could get booted quick.

Religious people are probably really pissed off

I believe the entire cosmos is one living conscious being.  I call it the Universal Soul or God, but it seems to be the same idea.  everything partakes of consciousness. everything is "Alive" and ensouled.

but we will still find countless alien organisms and civilizations teeming all through space.

just like how we humans are one conscious totality but also host to countless individual lifeforms.

though I steer clear of beliefs I can't back up, I actually 'feel' this to be true. My personal notion of 'reality' is a kind of chaotic brilliant soup, in which truth and all definitions and boundaries are matters of perspective, and therefore arbitrary and illusory. It can all be seen as the generation and the substance of one shared mind, but even this definition is no truer than any other, so perhaps the closest thing to the 'true' essence of being is mystery, in my view.

None of that is really testable and so not science. He's just philosophizing. Unexplained phenomena are not evidence for hyper advanced alien life nor god.

Theorizing is a part of science actually. All he did is propose a new way of viewing the universe.

Who knows, it could be proven true one day. Many things people have believed for a long time have been come into question again.

Science is not always black or white and it is most definitely not some penultimate source of knowledge, it is often flawed just like everything human related.

In order to be science, theorizing has to produce testable predictions. You can't just sit there and say maybe aliens are physics. It's not science.

So what if it could one day be proven to be true? You could say that about any theory. That doesn't make it any more plausible.

I never said science was not flawed nor that it is the ultimate (penultimate means second to last) source of knowledge. It's currently the best means we have by which to arrive at knowledge.

The article uses the label "Ivy League Professor" to make the claim credible and then you guys come in here and bash this guy for sharing ideas about the universe because he's an "Ivy League Professor" and "scientist" and therefore is somehow not entitled to doing the same shit you do when you get stoned. The fuck?

I think it's a fantastic idea. As a scientist you're supposed to be pushing the envelope.

I'm not bashing him. If he's proposing it as just an idea, not as a scientificly justified theory, then he's just as able as anyone. It isn't necessarily wrong, it's just the idea as portrayed is inherently not scientific, and therefore while he has every right to his opinion, his credentials do not actually matter in this context see?
it's a cool idea indeed, scientific or not

No one is saying he can't do it. It's just not science. It's not even really philosophy. For that you need some logical rigour. It's basically just aliens of the gap. It could make for a cool sci-fi story. He even cites two sci-fi books in his article.

A lot of the best visionaries have been crazy which is possibly what allowed them to think of various "prophesies" of sorts that became reality.

I agree with you though it is pretty funny, shows his clear bias pretty well  I try to respect peoples opinions equally but it's not always that simple of course.

Wouldn't this by extension also mean that people are aliens making the word alien practically meaningless? And even if alien life is hidden in the laws of physics why does that explain why life as we know it has been thus far undetectable from other worlds? And isn't what he's saying the same thing as God is everywhere?

By that logic humans are also the planet becouse we are connected, I would argue we are part of yet separate/ distinct from the "alien" or "god".

Other life that is out there could also be undeveloped and even highly intelligent life may not be able to travel intergalactically.

Space is so wide and expansive we could dedicate centuries and barely scratch the surface so any life out there is most likely very obscured. This theory doesn't really change anything relating to that, I guess what it could change is any highly intelligent species people hope to find may have already evolved beyond physical existence and could be all around us just undetectable.

But there still very possibly is some other form of physical life out there waiting for us to find us, this doesn't change that.

Lastly not necessarily as it depends on how you define god. To me the one "true" god is the ultimate all encompassing being/ structure that all existence is a part of. That means if there are multiple dimensions/ realities existing parallel to each other they are all a part of god. So any non psychical beings that may co exist with us are a part of god as everything is but I would consider them entities/ spirits not "gods".

Though by some definition energy beings would be gods of sorts. It is also very possibly many deities in various religions could be based off of nonphysical beings that have revealed themselves throughout history to try and steer us in the right direction. A lot of ancient cultures were into crazy rituals and used a lot of psychedelics so it seems possible they could have tapped into some things modern society has yet to catch onto.

Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

I think it's true in the sense that because this reality is a computer simulation designed by aliens , the laws of physics themselves are reflections and expressions of alien life and intelligence.

If they have the capacity to insert themselves into the simulations then perhaps the whole thing is infused with their consciousness.  or perhaps we ourselves are aliens enjoying the illusion of being humans within a simulation world we created.

I could see him keeping his position but becoming notorious/ blacklisted due to his "eccentric beliefs", you may be right though and he could get booted quick.

Lol, something similar happened to a professor at my school. He was publishing books about the existence of aliens, which apparently makes you not very popular with the school board.

Yea makes sense, we just dont see them cause they are probably millions of years more evolved and already probably 4-5 dimensional. The transcendence hypothesis explains it well

But shouldn't there be alien life at all different phases of evolution?

Maybe because you haven't made an effort.  You need to make yourself appealing to them.  try lying face down on top of a hill with your pants down and spread your buttocks with your hands.

in all seriousness though get out and watch the sky at night and you will likely eventually see a UFO. I was 29 when I first had an experience .

Really though people not believing in aliens because they never met one is like an Gibbon in the Congo not believing in humans because none ever came and introduced themselves.

Most Aliens are far away from us in space, but I do believe there are many who have visited earth throughout history and probably even made contact with humans at some point, and maybe are in contact with humans even now , but that doesn't Mean they are going door to door shaking hands.

though I steer clear of beliefs I can't back up, I actually 'feel' this to be true. My personal notion of 'reality' is a kind of chaotic brilliant soup, in which truth and all definitions and boundaries are matters of perspective, and therefore arbitrary and illusory. It can all be seen as the generation and the substance of one shared mind, but even this definition is no truer than any other, so perhaps the closest thing to the 'true' essence of being is mystery, in my view.

agree to both.

Agreed.

Im telling you guys...reality is a hologramatic hovering golden disc.

Everything is part of this disc.

For instance all humans could occupy 1% of the disc. All th universe is 100% of the disc.

Maybe it is not EVERYTHING in terms of matter but when you push the mind to its furthest representation of self..you get the disc

This basic sort of ontological theory is in fact not new at all and can be seen in in mystical traditions like Kabbalah. But it's stupid. People just see meaningful relationships between symbolic systems and can't believe it they could've fallen out of the fact that there is both some consistency to the world we live in and some consistency to our our symbolic systems, instead choosing to believe that the symbolic systems are somehow ontologically a priori and creative.
