Hey y'all. I'm new to the forums and mycology. BUT i don't do things in half measures so i have 2 projects going: P. mexicana jalisco sclerotia and golden teacher pf cakes.
Actually, they are in a "race" to try to get psilocybin by the solstice. we shall see. The truffles were inoculated on 11/5 and the pf jars on 11/9. The truffles are doing GREAT... pf cakes....not so much.
Two things (maybe three) are holding it up IMO, but I know shit about coprophilic mushrooms, so y'all maybe can tell me.
the mix was on the dry side, because looking through the questions from newbies "too wet" was #1. I inoculated towards the interior, NOT the glass. And #3 is i mixed in a SMALL fraction of coffee grounds. They are in TALL 1/2 pints. They were from a 3-year-old print.
I only see one possible area of mycelium so far and it's just a little spot.
So I'm wondering, just wait? Inoculate with sterile cool water? I'm betting wait :P.
Thanks y'all.

WAIT!!! Since you inoculated in middle you cant see most of the growth. Next time do the 4 points (12,3,6,9 on a clock). DO NOT USE COFFEE GROUNDS! They have a strong history of promoting contamination. IF YOUR A NOOB STICK TO SIMPLE AND FOLLOW THE TEK PERFECTLY. DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN ADJUSTMENTS. ONLY CHANGE THINGS IF A TRUSTED CULTIVATOR TELLS YOU TO.

i could be wrong but i think truffles take longer than 46days. and pf can take awhile too not to shit on your solstice plans
anyway do NOT inject more water into a jar. once its100% colonized dunk your cakes/grains. injecting water is a terrible idea.

well I thought I replied yesterday....i guess those medibles are stronger than I thought. lol
Yeah, the solstice thing is a dream. But we're all allowed to dream.
Thanks for the replies. As far as doing only what I'm told... I didn't get into this hobby just to follow directions . but I get your point and will TRY to keep things within their parameters. The coffee was suggested by a bulk grower who has never done a pf cake... so even here I WAS taking suggestions :P
The sclerotia are doing very well. I experimented with these too. the first batch was on mixed grains (2 parts RB, 2 parts WB and 1 part whole oats) with a 1/2 coffee prep and the other batch was straight RBs with a half tea soak. the mixed grain/coffee is laying waste to the RB/tea.
Thanks everybody
