Agar clone contaminated, how to proceed?
    #23842826 - 11/17/16 05:55 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Hello,
This is my first time using agar.  I cloned some Ps. allenii to agar and noticed that on most of the petri dishes, the "chunks" of clone that are in contact with the agar are surrounded by a small layer of bacteria.  Mycelium appears to be growing from the top section of the clone, not really on the petri dish.

Any advice on how to proceed?  This was from a huge fruit and I'd love to ensure this clone succeeds.  I have 5 plates that are all similar to these photos.

Thanks!

Here's the chunky allenii I cloned from.  By far the biggest I've ever found.

Is it just me or does any one else see like barely any bacteria? Like only a few spots on the 3rd plate.. I'd say just give it some more time. It's looking like it's just recovering to me.

Ok thanks, I appreciate your input.

Here's a zoomed version of the first picture.  It seems like the base of each clone has this type of bacterial splotch.  Since I'm a newb I guess I'm not sure if I should be waiting it out or transferring ASAP but your post is indicating I should give it time.

I'd wait it out. And it doesn't look like any bacteria I've ever seen.. it's just mycelium going into the agar IMO.
