shiitake myc too slow?

Could somebody who is really well organized and takes notes, tell me how long it takes them to go from an agar shiitake plate to G1? I think my myc goes too slow, it seems to me that the process never took me longer than roughly two weeks. Not sure though because I never wrote it down. I'm restarting my shiitake operation after almost 4 months of other farming activities. But it doesn't go as fast as I planned, want!

certainly depends on how many points of inoculation and the amount of grain. but 2-3 weeks isn't terribly slow if you only have a couple wedges in a quart jar.

Thanks Drake, guess I'm just too impatient because it's been not even three weeks. Apart from that I didn't soak my rye, so I guess it's too dry. Second batch I soaked and growth seems to be better. I'm a bit paranoid because my flowhood was clocked and I opened my master slant in front of it. So I'm afraid it got contaminated. I changed my HEPA and I haven't got any contaminated plates anymore. Mountain air here is kind of dusty and H14 filters don't like that. I installed a F7 pre filter in a metal frame that should catch al that dust. Before I had a piece of filter cloth but apparantly that wasn't fine enough.

My shiitake grain spawn usually takes about 2-3 weeks. After about 1 week, if it's at least 30% colonized, I gently shake to redistribute. After that, it usually looks good in another week.

Merci Jim! It took two and a half weeks to get from agar to G1. G2 is almost ready to be spawned en then let's see if the miracle will happen again.

Oh! I forgot to mention that I do not soak my rye for spawn. Just throw it in a jar with water and gypsum, and pressure cook. Always works fine.
