Doing things when you know how people will react
    #23839845 - 11/16/16 07:24 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Do you ever do things to people when you know how the recipient will react?

For example, I am doing some laundry and I thought about putting my girlfriends nice white shirt along with the rest of the clean non white laundry.  I didn't have enough for a load of whites (she has been getting on me for not washing whites separate (I think she is racist)) so I didn't wash it yet.  I know she will freak out and ask me why I washed that with all the colored clothes.  Then I will laugh and tell her I didn't actually wash it yet.

I tent to do this with petty things all the time, and some how get some enjoyment out of it.  I must be pretty annoying.

Its part of cognitive psychology....or what I like to call the dark side of psycology. People are nothing but walking algorithms, most fairly easy to read.

The other day I put on a video about how ego is bad and you need to reflect on the things that you view as negative to dispel them from your life for my quite egotistical friend. I didn't really know what was going to happen but I knew it could have gotten ugly, so I did it anyways. Long story short he wasn't having any of it. Couldn't even listen to it at all he had to talk so loud during the whole thing no one could listen to anyone but him.

What does your gf expect you to do if either option is wrong. Go buy white stuff to wash with it?

I guess there aren't many actions I do with other people when I don't know how they will react.  It almost seems scary to be with someone when you have no clue how they will react.  Is that knowing someone?

The only wrong option was to wash the white shirt with the colors.  She is fine with not washing the whites.  If that is what was the other option that was supposedly wrong.

I know this kind of person too well. People trying to get weird about $2. Good god, I got a customer who took 10min of my time once about $0.25.

Quote:

The example is where a plumber makes a mistake on a $300 job by underestimating the price of a $3 part as $1, so the plumber sends a bill for $302, the correct price. The customer won't pay the entire original $300 unless and until the plumber absorbs the $2 error instead of just paying the (undisputed part of the) bill of $300.

I think the white shirt thing is just mild teasing of your partner, OP. And wash those whites with the whites! It makes the whites darker man when you wash with the darks.
