I have a 1997 buick lesabre and have to get new tires. I was looking at the cooper silver edition all season or the michelin defender (live in CO.). Any suggestions on any other tires? Does rackem have an input?

You always gotta consider what you want out of a tyre, the selection is so massive, and they're one of the most important aspects of your overall experience and safety.
Like on my bike which I ride in colder, wetter weather, I have a tyre designed for the best grip in those conditions, works well from cold. On the bike that only comes out in perfect conditions, I run as close to a slick as possible, that takes time to heat up, but is like glue when it does.
Although I will say, as a man that's tried and tested tyres for as long as I can remember, I've always found Michelin to up there with the best, if not the best, tyre manufacturer. All 5.5 of my vehicles run them, so you probably can't go wrong. Yokahama were my favourite on cars, but I have no idea if they make the kind of tyre you're looking for.

Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not. --Jac O'keeffe

I might go with the michelin defender. It seems to be the best one, and it's at discount tire co, free lifetime balance and rotation plus $100.00 factory rebate for 4 tires. So basically buy one get one free. They are 105 a tire.

i dunno about new tires but if u want your old ones removed for free you can always head to the middle of the ghetto of detroit late at night and put your car in park, the nice guys there will take your tires off for free without even asking

is it a caf or SUV/truck?
If a truck/suv, get an all terrian for one youre in Colorado, and two they last a lot longer.
i just bought a Goodyear off road tire for my SUV. it was $117 for one tire. totally worth cause it looks it badass.

If your driving on all season tires in Colorado you might as well be an illegal uninsured Mexican. Get Firestone winterforce or Bridgey Blizzaks.

Those are good tires and discount tire will match any competition. Check the price at Costco you might be able to get more money off. Just with any winter tire make sure to change them when it gets warm. They are a softer rubber and will not last long if you use them in the summertime.

they don't make them for my car, either one. I get 100 bucks back on 4 of the defender. The defender seems to be the best all season tire for my car. Still looking and comparing.

i like coopers, they make a damned fine tire. I am currently running coopers on my jeep. with that being said you cant go wrong with the michs either. If you are getting a killer discount on them, its hard to pass up.
kumho's are decent as well.
what is the tire size that is currently on the vehicle?

205 70 R15 and I got the car aligned this summer along with all new suspension (would bad tires make the alignment off?). Brakes plus does a free alignment check. Should I check that before I get the tires on or after?

quite the opposite.. bad alignment will cause premature tire wear.
i would check the alignment after the tires.

I buy my tars from the scrapyard. Might not last quite as long, but usually you can get some good ones off a wreck for a fraction of the cost. The last long enough and you aren't raped right in the wallet hole.

Yeah well that's no surprise from a dealer. They pretty much are only going to use new OEM parts or ones that are refurbished by them.

Thanks! BUT, I want an all season tire. Colorado winters aren't that bad, and the primewell tires I had on the last 2 winters were great, but they are worn out. They have a cooper/arizonian silver edition all season for 80, and another III edition for 87 each. I could save 18 bucks a tire and still get a 75.00 cash back on all 4. Not sure which would be better.

man, i would go with the cash back deal. the coopers are nice, but thats pretty much a good deal. and I believe that you get road warranty with michelins as long as you own them.

yeah, I didn't really look at them since the alignment was done early this spring. I did get a rotate and balance once since then and the guy said he would do it but I needed to get new ones soon (they didn't look that bad then) and one tire is almost bald in the front now. I'm just glad I have the cash for them without hurting my pocketbook. I still love this car! I'll probably get a newer buick in a couple of years. The lacross might be the one.

that never really happens either with the timing and all..
they did a good job on the lacross/verano/regals and so far the price point on them isnt crazy like the gmc denali/cadillac line is getting.

I'm looking at a 2010 or 2012, don't want to pay more than 10 grand or not much over. Read bad revues on the recent regal. My mates son needs a car soon. I may sell him this one and get the lacross next year.

i dont blame you there. i dont see the point in paying full markup on brand new vehicles either.
the only thing i dont like about the regal is its supposed to be the new 'grand national' it cant even compare to it.

Les Shwab for example has the option for 80% tires.
Edit: u probably thought car dealers but i meant tire dealers (retailers).
