Red Hot Chili Peppers - Greatest Hits
    #2382379 - 02/27/04 08:31 AM (20 years, 1 month ago)

I've never really been "into" the Chili Peppers enough to buy one of their CDs, but I've liked many of their singles, so I bought this album. It's really good... I'm not fond of their "rap and funk" style songs, but they're really awesome at slow sad songs.

Probably because of all the heroin, heh.

My favorite songs so far on this are:

Soul To Squeeze (I've always really liked this one, since it's original release)
Parallel Universe
Breaking THe Girl
My Friends
Universally Speaking
Road Trippin'
Save The Population

Now, all of these except Soul To Squeeze are atleast mostly new to me.. can any Peppers fans give me an idea of which albums these are mostly from?

These guys are really capable of some beautiful music; I kind of overlooked them due to songs like "Give It Away" and the like...

soul to squeeze is one of my favorite songs too....it's off mothers milk if i'm not mistaken....the rest of those songs are pretty much on different albums...i think californication or the newer one? has more mellow stuff though

If you like the less rap/funk songs, buy "By The Way" I assure you, you won't regret it! It's all really melodic.

Yeah, it's an awesome song.. definitely the first one that I really loved by the Chili Peppers.. but I got over my infatuation by playing it many times, so I've moved onto others.

While I see the good qualities of their funk/rap songs, I think their songwriting abilities are much more exercised in their "other" songs.
