I would say either a pedro or peruvian.  I have no idea though so..I just want to see how close I am.. I'll commit to peruvian..

Let's see..  either way it's a good looking cactus.

At first I was thinking cereus, then I noticed where the spines come out its more "pronounced" than the rest of the cactus which looks like the bridgessii that's next to it, so I was thinking maybe a cereus bridgessii x but I have no experience at all identifying cacti

I wouldnt say cereus, those look different..  I went with peruvian because it looks different than a pedro, but it doesnt look like a bridgesii either in my eyes..  I have no idea though.  I'm just playing a game.

Someone will be along that actually has an eye for these things.  I'm interested in what it will turn out to be.

Peru hybrid.
Probably cross pach or just a shorter spined type.
That frosted blue colour gives it away.

But yes, nice lookin cactus either way.

Plenty of blue pachanoi's, the majority of mine go blue - in my experience the short spined Peruvian species have darker spines. I'll upload a microscope picture shortly of the Spinage I normally see on perus.

I always noticed my pach's go distinctively bright green where as my peru/bridge's go frosty blue.

However, on second glance i do notice distinct white areola, which is a pach trait.

But i think its safe to say, yes its tricho.
Most probably a hybrid as most cuts, even named clones are.
Further differentiation would be next to impossible without DNA sequencing as both species are so closely related they could almost be considered variants.
There are types that are known to be vastly different but as a whole both plants are so similar they could easily be misidentified as the other.

I have one very similar in my collection. It was labeled as a Trichocereus pachanoi at the nursery I bought it at, but I've always suspected it to be some kind of bridgesii hybrid.

I see no bridgessii traits.
Looks peru/pach to me.

Why do you say that..?

Because of the way the areoles protrude, almost like the sawtooth of the pc
But misplant and ss both label their pc crosses as pach x _____ (of which I'm sure there are thousands in circulation) so it could very well be a pc cross

I don't see any bridge either, but then again every bridge I have looks different.  I'm holding with peruvian.  I'm no cacti TI though.  All the pedros I've had looked different too.. so

I do see a bit of bridge in the shape of the stems but the spines and areola scream pach/peru to me.
Quite possible it was a cross of all 3 if one of parents was a cross to begin with.

I try not to argue to much haha!
But the truth is you probably never get a definitive answer.

Its just that everybody is so used to named clones that they refer to them for ID but every seedling has its own characteristics.
You'll never know unless you know where the seed/cut came from or you get it sequenced.

But its safe to say its tricho, its active and its a nice lookin plant

It looks like a yellow, spiny pachanoi.

It is skinny. Doesnt look super healthy. I say sun bleached, not thriving pachanoi.

Im saying pach X ss02. And there is bridgessi genetics in that. So thats why he would say that.

Well thats why you would say that.

I see the bridg shape in the stems to some extant, But its not really typical spinage of an ss02.

And i wasn't being a dick, i was asking redz what had made him hold that opinion so we could maybe all
Be on the same page.
but Thanks for helping out.

Id say its just a random tricho mutt though.
Maybe this bad boy even..?

That's what I'm saying.  Some of the bridges I've had/have look hella different to me so it's not like comparing a cannabis plant to a sunflower for me.  Other people here have a WAY better eye for these things than I do.  That's why I like making it a game and guessing and then when the real answer comes around, seeing how close I got.. it's a fun practice/game for me..  just like the mush ID forum.
