I noticed the surface of my cake looked really dry last night and so was the SGFC. I rehydrated the SGFC by misting it heavily especially the perlite in the bottom while I had the tray out for its daily examination lol. After I was done examining I placed the tray back in the SGFC and indirectly misted the crap out of the cake. I think it's what my shrooms wanted because they seem to be noticeably growing by the half hour!

No harm in misting the sub directly.. Unless someone already instructed you otherwise for some reason..

Tripping with your significant other is probably the best medicine for any relationship. Happy tripping!

Agreed. Tripped with my SO off our first batch and it was a really delightful evening.

I have noticed misting directly does not seem to harm anything. I have just read so many mixed reviews about misting directly so I had no idea what to do. Thank you for your advice I really needed it!

My other tray of Koh Sumai's is done colonizing and in the FC. I also started my first mycobag experiment (5 lb. bag with filter of kowanite) yesterday. I checked the mycobag before i left for work tonight and it is colonizing the substrate like crazy! Seems to be a way faster method than trays for some reason?

My 2nd tray of Koh Sumai's rotted on me!? For some reason it stalled so I checked the middle of the cake and the whole middle layer was black! Have you seen anything like this happen?

It's probably mold, man. You said in the OP you used spores as an inoculant. Spore to grain has a pretty high failure rate because prints and syringes aren't made in a sterile environment. You'll want to germinate them on agar and isolate the mycelium from any contaminants if you want consistent results.

I'm sure it was.... The berries almost looked rotten and were covered in fuzz but the manure was colonized beautifully. It was so weird it looked so good. Sucks so bad that tray was looking beautiful I had it in my FC so looks like I got some sterilization to do.

Well I knocked up four jars of pop corn with four different ms syringes (PES Hawaiian, penis envy, penis envy uncut, and golden teacher). I am very proud to say they are 100% contamination free!!! I knocked them up on 12/18 and all are nearly 100% colonized!!! Waiting on some kowanite to get here so I can get these bad boys going! PES Hawaiian rocks btw! It colonized so fast it and has so much rhizomorphic growth! I will post pics shortly!

Pics of only crop of Koh Sumai's I got out of my tray. I guess not bad for my first project lol. I have a mycobag with tiny KS's popping up everywhere but they are growing very slowly with large amounts of metabolites/water building up in the bottom of the bag. I drain it when it starts to build up in the bottom. I definitely like popcorn way better than rye berries! I don't think I will use anything but popcorn for as long as I keep farming cubes lol
