I have a buddy that's allergic to poison ivy and got into a batch. Dude poured bleach on his legs... Said it cleared up... I dunno if I'd recommend it though

I might try it next time. For now, it's in the "crusting over" stage.

You don't want to use bleach, or gasoline. That will break open your cell walls and cause more problem. Pour rubbing alcohol over it. The oils will dissolve in the alcohol and wash off without damaging your cells like bleach does which allows the plant oils to get deeper into you.
Those are evil plants..

...also, if you live near the ocean, spend as much time as you can in the salt water. Salt water is medicinal and helps to cure all kinds of skin ailments. You can "recreate" this in your bath tub with some luck too.
Going to the pool will also help. The chlorine etc. helps dry and cleanse the blisters without tearing up your skin cells like bleach or gasoline does.

Be sure to keep your blisters sterile. Impetago (sp?) and even staph infections can slip in there real easy. The sores, especially when they break are like an open door for those infections.

Use the pink stuff. Get no where near the stuff mountain biking and end up with spots on my shins. I think it's the little ivy tendrils that come on to the single track......or the oils are on on their plants my shins bump.

You mean calamine lotion(sp?).. that stuff is wack and doesnt really "heal" anything. There are better alternatives.
Well, it might for some people I guess. I'm horribly alergic to those plants so.. I usually have to get shot up with antibiotics and take steroids when it gets me. So calamine lotion is a waste of time for me.

Yeah I try to keep it covered up. Now though the itching has stopped and the blisters didn't even weep they just crusted over. Old skin flaking off in the original worst spots so hope abounds. It'll be a month total at least. Once this crap gets in your blood it travels a ways. The wrist was bad it has so much blood flow. I used a cortisone prescription drug for a while but it seemed to make it really red so I cut it out. Using Benadryl oral.
But yeah stay away from the oak. I got it all around my one property it's gonna be Round UP time this spring that does seem to get rid of it. Had it going down to the river and sprayed shit out of it last year with Roundup and mostly gone. The woods though are loaded with it, scrub oak/poison oak for the most part.

Chamomile lotion is supposed to gently ease itching overy large areas on the body... Not really heal. Things do heal faster when you don't pick at them tho.

I got fucked up by poison oak recently. It's been 3+ weeks and it still hasn't gone away. It was starting to, but then it spread again from my leg to my arm.

It also drys out the pustules if you are highly reactive. BTW, rei has this lotion that protects you....commonly used by backpackers. Like a skin coat.

I've used ivy dry before.. word of warning though, don't use it over a large area because it drys your skin out like mad and makes it crack up, which is counter productive.
I always get poision ivy on my ankles. I truely hate that plant with a passion. My grandpap was 'immune', he forgot to pass along those genetics..

You may still have the oils somewhere and need to wash something.
