So I'm moving up from a 49cc to a 75cc on my moped. Only catch is that the body is very light and I hear that my moped will vibrate like crazy with the larger engine. Sooo I need to have my piston balanced to reduce vibration. But I really have no idea who to approach about doing such a thing. Someone I know suggested I ship it to a facility to work on it, but it'd be nice to support someone local. How do y'all go about picking who to have your piston balanced by?
Also, is there anything else that could be done to reduce vibration on a moped? I've got a Tomos a55

Being extremely honest, sell that bike and get a real bike. Totally not worth the hastle of messing with the engine.
If you're trying to stay small, keep an eye out for these little 125cc bikes, you can find one for 600 - 900 bucks easy. Craigslist and searchtempest. They are ultra reliable, good on gas, and extremely easy to work on, a child could fix one.

---
This was my first ever bike bought for 600 bucks, 180cc's was so easy to work on, absolutley reliable and cool looking everyone loved it.

I do'nt trust the idea that you would need to have the piston/crank balanced. If they're both stock engines, the difference in vibration is likely to be marginal between 49 and 75cc. If uncomfortable vibration is present, then the first order ov business would be to address the motor mounts(you'd want soft rubber mounts to assuage vibration). If still unsatisfactory, INCREASING weight at the crankshaft end with heavier parts is next.
I'm unawares about mopeds, but a multi-cylinder auto engine should be well balanced internally from the factory. Engine smoothness is then addressed at the ends ov the crankshaft with a harmonic balancer at one end(if necessary) and the flywheel/clutch or drive plate/TC at the other. Soft engine mounts and a heavy rotating mass increases smoothness while the opposite affords less flex and rotating mass for performance at the sacrifice ov comfort.

whatever money you spend on it wont be worth it. Singles arnt balanced and WILL ALWAYS vibrate like crazy. Adding a bigger engine will most likely fuck up the frame. I seriously think it would be unridable. My 600cc supersport vibrates and that is a fucking a racebike.
Like come one atleast get a 125cc.

What's the model name of that first bike? Looks dope, and that's an incredibly affordable price range.

It's a Honda CB125, from 1970 - 1985 or something. Keep an eye out on Craigslist, I see these all the time and they are cool and you can haggle the price. Don't pay over $1000. I'd try for $600.
Use this search engine to scour all nearby city craigslist http://www.searchtempest.com

Do you know about Tomos a55s? There's not a chance in hell I'm going to sell it. It's already got $600 in aftermarket parts dropped into it. The moped is worth a grand with stock parts and they aren't manufactured anymore so the price has been steadily going up. The bore kit only cost me $175 in comparison.
And "real bike"? A bike is a bike. My dick is big enough that I don't need to worry about overcompensating in other areas I plan to get a 500cc, but this is a moped, which I like to ride. So how about instead of telling me to sell my moped for a motorcycle, y'all offer some helpful advice?
I've also already got the 75cc kit. I have a friend who has the same model and used the same kit. Said it vibrated too much to be comfortable till he had it balanced.

Am sorry for what I said. I thought my advice was decent. Im not dissing you by saying that it's going to be a a hastle and a waste of money for the extra 25cc's which will barely make a difference in your riding. And it's value won't necessarily go up like a stock share either.
Just sayin, as someone who's owned and rebuilt 15+ motorcycles and scooters over the last 7 years
In my own mind, I know that the 600 dollar bike you can find on Craigslist will smoke the fuck out of that pedal scooter no matter how much money you put into it

yea... I dont know your finacial situation... but you can do better. The more money you sink into it the more money you waste.
ENGINES ONLY DEVALUE NOT INCREASE.

I understand, but I'm not trying to race this bike. I only want to get an extra 5mph, which will easily happen with 25cc's, so that I can go on some bigger streets where the speed limit is 45. I can already do 45 with it after switching the sprocket and exhaust, but I'd like to hit 50mph so I'm not topping out with everyone flying past me.
I'd rather get a motorcycle worth several grand than drop 600 on something I'll get bored of. My moped is more for cruising on local streets. I prefer the small size and minimal work it takes compared to bigger bikes. I would consider my moped to serve a different function than a motorcycle. I plan to keep both when I finally do get a bigger bike.
