Helping IDing these 'libs'
    #23823013 - 11/11/16 01:07 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hey, completely new to hunting shrooms, i live in the uk and found these in a field where cows/sheep graze. They varied in size and shape most of them had nipples but not all of them.Thought they looked a little bit like lib caps but don't want to risk it without knowing for sure!

This is them after being in my oven at 30 degrees for about 40 mins to 1 hour.

Thanks!

Mixed collection. The one in the second picture is Psilocybe semilanceata "liberty cap" however most of what are in the piles and the ones in the 3rd picture are a Panaeolus species.

Take them out of the oven. That is a good way to ruin any active mushroom that you have harvested.
You might be able to sift any into different types still. Do that and post pica of them NOT IN A JUMBLED HEAP, but lined up single file. Closer up as well if possible.

Thanks for the quick reply man, you sure they are different, they were all growing very close together in clumps.

My oven has a de-humidifier setting on, they stay at low heat with a fan.

Also i took them out of the oven a while ago and put them in a box with some paper in whilst i figure out what to do with them and they have gone ridiculously dark, almost black... Guessing this means they are not libbys?

First collection looks like Psathyrella but Panaeolus might be better given the habitat.

That is probably from over heating them they might just be ruined.
Dehumidifying is different than dehydrating.
Yes I am certain that they are at least two different species mostly a Panaeolus species, and at least one specimen of Psilocybe semilanceata.
You should take a picture of what they look like now, I will let you know if they look like they should all be tossed.
If that is the case, no need to fret, because it looks like very few, if not just the one, are libs anyway, probably less than one dose, & now you should have a better idea what you are looking for. You can go back to that field & similar ones and find what you are actually looking for!

The one in the second picture is Psilocybe semilanceata, but I don't see any others.
