Anyone used "Out-Grow" Pre-Sterilized BRF jars?

Hey guys! New poster here with some questions regarding my first cultivation attempt soon to come!
First and foremost I do understand that buying your own materials and a PC is def the way to go in home cultivation. I am going to wait and do a kinda "trial" run tho before I dive off and buy a PC and start making my own jars from scratch. After doing a little research I came across "Out-Grow" in the sponsors and noticed that the sell BRF jars that are made to order and Pre-Sterilized. Was just wondering if any of you have used these before and if they turned out nicely. I have everything needed other than the stuff for jars and spores and planned on ordering them together.
Thanks guys!

In the opinions of experienced grows which have you had more luck with? BRF or WBS? If I'm gonna make my own jars from scratch I wanna make sure to get the best yield possible out of the cakes with the least amount of contamination.

you need a pressure cooker for WBS, you do not for BRF cakes. they're completely different things. WBS is a whole grain, used as grain spawn, cakes are fruited as cakes

I thought you were supposed to sterilize your BRF cakes in a PC before inoculating them?

you don't NEED a PC for BRF cakes, you can steam sterilize them in a pot that you already have.

Quote:
Part 1 of the BRF tek (common slang for technique) gets you started on the easiest way to learn how to grow mushrooms. This technique was originally developed for the cultivation of Psilocybe cubensis, a hallucinogenic mushroom, but is an excellent way to get started growing edible mushrooms as well, without the purchase of such items as a laminar flowhood and pressure cooker.
Part 1 also gives the recipe and demonstrates the procedure for grinding the brown rice using a coffee grinder. You’ll see how to modify the lids of your mason jars to allow for inoculation and air exchange, and you’ll see how we sterilize the brown rice flour above a kettle of boiling water.
BRF/PF Tek Part 2
Part 2 of the brown rice flour technique (pf tek) picks up where part 1 left off. You’ll remove the sterilized jars from the steaming kettle, and once they’ve cooled to room temperature, inoculate them with either a mushroom spore syringe or liquid culture syringe using sterile procedures as demonstrated by well-known mycologist Jim Read of Seattle, Washington.

basically don't pay for someone to buy a package of mason jars and add a mix 2:1:1 verm:water:BRF to them, top off with a dry verm barrier put a lid on with 4 holes punched in it. cover with foil. put in a pot with a couple inches of boiling water and a tight fitting lid. also a little platform to elevate the jars out off the bottom of the pan (trivet) I used some old shitty silverware in the bottom of a pot before I had bought a PC and was making cakes. the jars go in the pot just like they would go in a PC but you're steaming them without pressure since they can be sterilized to a reasonable level without pressure, unlike grain spawn which takes 8+ hours to sterilize without a pressure cooker.
don't pay for someone to make something easier than box macncheese for you

Micropore tape isn't needed if you have a dry verm barrier...

So I should innoc after cool down from sterilization and not worry about covering the holes back up on the lid?

The only time your gonna buy premade stuff is you don't have access to it, like field aged horse manure. Every item bodhi listed can be had pretty easily in the states. If your across the pond, you may have issues.
Edit: also get In the habit of not mentioning vendor names in association with cultivating. Their 50/50 manure is damn good btw

Yeah as long as your verm barrier is dry it will filter out contaminations, but if it's wet you might want to micropore tape holes as a precautionary measure?

If you have the dry verm barrier on top, yes. Good luck Dick

after sterilization let cool over night, next day take out and put in your still air box. get your spore syringe flame the needle, remove the foil at and inject 0.25CC per hole try to use as little as possible, try to get the needle against the glass so the spore solution drips down the glass so you will see growth as soon as it starts. flame needle between each new jar, the first squirt after flaming make a couple extra drops to cool the needle and get viable spores in the jar. keep the foil off take out of SAB put on shelf. you can optionally use micropore over the holes if you so wish.

I always read some confusion on leaving tape on or off for GAE but since I'll have a verm layer than I won't worry about it. Fortunately I do live state side and in an area very abundant of livestock like cows and horse (South-East) but as being new to all this gonna start off the easiest ways first so I'll just pick everything up locally and get some spores and be on the way!
