Is it because of the way things are these days that people do not want to be gender identified? Is it something else to piss off parents and older people? I sort of get it, but it is still a bit confusing. I am guessing that the androgynous people that have both male and female characteristics on the surface confuses people about their gender, and therefore why should anyone have to be "labeled" as any particular sex/gender. If a person loves another what difference does "gender/sex" make?
Is it that labels are constricting or a detriment to the people that don't want a "label"? Are people trying to be undefined by a gender/sex so that they can integrate just as easily as someone who is outwardly a male or female by dress/appearance? Maybe it is to break down barriers and make people more accepting of the wide variance of people and the way they are.
I do think it is a bit much to have more than 3-4 "types" of gender/sex. I really don't know though, it does not bother me. What would bother me is if I ID'd someone as a male or female and they started explaining how it is wrong to mislabel them etc...So I guess I would have to keep a he or she him or her man or woman out of a conversation if I wasn't sure. *SIGH*
I do not hate or condemn anyone for being who they are or who they want/need to be. I have very little education on the subject matter. I realize it can be/is a very sensitive issue for those directly impacted by the labeling. I have always wondered why people are called "gay" or homosexual just because they have sex with the same gender/sex. Why can't they just be?
I always loved that skit on SNL "It's PAT!" (more relevant these days, LOL)

I've never met anyone that insists on being called androgynous or A gendered (if I'm even 'saying' that correctly.) like I said I use it for scientific, technical, or sociological purposes. When I was younger and even a couple years ago I had considered the possibility that I was a trans man. Mostly just because I never "fit" as a girl. I never felt like I fit and alot of others commented on me not fitting. I had to rule out that possibility and accept my own personal balance of femininity and masculinity before coming to the androgynous conclusion.

I've always felt this way too. Forgive me for saying but I think the fact that so many others also feel that they cannot "fit" is why we have developed such a large array of identity terms. And its not just in gender and sexuality, I think people of this day and age are taking up more strict social identities. Because we all want to find a home and where we fit in this crazy complex circus show of life.

Dude, I love those bizarre commercials.
I learned all of the American curse words from my Filipino grandmother. She would talk in Tagalog but curse in English. But alot of the times my Filipino friends who are here in the states would talk in both languages in the same sentences to each other. It's really common to hear.
