rye growth looking ok?
    #23832040 - 11/14/16 12:00 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

They are currently colonizing at a low temperature (16C - 60F) because I have plenty of time - even need them to be a bit later.
Everything looking alright? it is MS-agar no cleaning-LC-rye

any imput appreciated

Give it a week you'll be able to tell soon enogh.

If it was on agar and you want them later why didn't you clean it up a bit?

I did 2 transfers, mostly rhizo growth but still sectoring so no single culture. The main reason is I started reconstruction in my home so I had to move quickly with the operation before the construction mess began. But I don't worry much, I'd rather have multi-culture and then clone the best fruit. The agar work was mostly to get my technique down..

Fair enough. How long ago did you inoculate?

Hmm could be around 2-3 weeks but I think the slow growth is because of the low temp, no visible condensation but the myc looks quite fluffy even though I made quite a large hole in the lid with tyvek as a filter. I plan to wait till full colonization and move to g2g with my fingers crossed. Btw Is it ok to shake the jar even when it's close to full colonization?

Why not raise the temp to allow fast colonization then fridge it to buy the time you need. Once it's colonized it becomes more resistant to contamination.

OK time for update after 1 week, I raised the temp to a nice 75F and they finished quite nice, but they are all showing a shitload of condensation, does it mean they are all bacterial?

Condensation doesn't mean bacterial.

And they are a bit bacterial, see those uncolonized grains at the bottom?

Nothing to worry about though, you'll still get fruits.

I fruited this and got big ass shrooms, and my jar was way worse than yours

And additionally, you see the how my mycelium is morphing and become thick in the pic? (people confuse it with rhizo mycelium , but its not) That's also a sign that mycelium shows when its fighting a contam, so keep that in mind.

OK thanks for calming my nerves, I have three of those, they seem fully colonized (am I right?) and one spawn bag which is also about three of those worth of spawn. So I guess I will let those consolidate and then put them somewhere cold and let them wait for their big brother to finish
