they are very tight, that tight, that sometimes I can't pull them out of the hole when changing them.
I just make a quite big polyfil "ball", take a screwdriver (with a big Phillips Head) and push the polyfil with it through the hole. When a bit is pushed in, I fold the polyfil once or twice and then I push again with the scredriver. So push and fold until almost all Polyfil was pushed inside the hole. Hard to explain in my bad english. But afterwards is very, very tight.

Stuffing/pulling with too much force can bend the metal lids and make more damage than benefit.
If I have no filter sticker around I roll up a conical polyfill sausage and put the thin end through the hole. Then I pull on the thin end until the 'sausage' fits tight. I cut both sides (leave ~ 1cm on each side). In the last step i form the polyfill to a knob on the topside.
It is much easier to change the polyfill when the hole is not sharp edged and has been drilled properly.

I tright that too, actually by reading your tek. But when I try to pull the thin end, it's ripped of from the rest of the polyfil. I don't work with too much force to push the polyfil inside the hole with the screwdriver.
A further method would be a mix of both: Pull a bit with the screwdriver into the hole so that the polyfil is quite tight and the rest is done by pulling the thin part until the rest of the polyfil follows into the hole and closes it tight.
I'll try that next time.
Which kind of Polyfil do you use? Have you bought the american brand or just pillow stuffing?

Fish tank fiberfill (Aquarium Filterwatte) it is tougher than the pillow filling (both are made of poly ethylene. The fabric of fiberfill seems to withstand much more force)
