Please Identify Muschrooms
    #23829095 - 11/13/16 12:51 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hi,  Out for a cycle earlier & saw a few mushrooms.. Found only 4 that I considered special..  the other ones I saw were not right.

Ground type - light woodland near horse pastures
Country - South England

Look like a variety of Liberty Cap to me?.. similar to ones I took a long time ago but uncertain..

I picked a lot 10 years ago and had great times but a few bad stomachs as well..

Can you ID these little blighters & I might brew for a little cuppa & then hunt more tomorrow..

thanks

Also..

Gill colours on each was browny purple..  One young mushy was more white at the gills but after an hour from picked it seemed to have a purple tint in the underside top - similar to bruising..

they each dont have the distinctive nipple..

1 & 2 look the best to me but 3 & 4 possibly could be older & heads were split but when I picked them they all had a 'Dome top'

Any Ideas ?.. Would appreciate if I am on the right track

Nice pictures. None are active, looks to me like Psathyrella.

thanks for fast reply maynardjameskeenan

Are they poisonous?..  I just read online for Psathyrella

" given a sample of Psathyrella instead of edible mushrooms. After consuming the mushrooms, Hillman drank a glass of beer and suffered an adverse reaction, suffering blue-and-white monochrome vision followed by memory problems and breathing difficulties. Hillman wrote the name of the fungus on a piece of paper which he attached to his chest and later recovered after having his stomach pumped."

That dont sound good to me :frown:  Darn..  thought i was on right track

Nice effort on the images ...imo #2 might be Paneolini Foenesci. Still not active but often grow in proximity to (and very closely resemble) Panaeolus cinctulus, which is an active species so you might look into that possibility.  Pan cincts are typically found in well cared for lawns, straw piles or anywhere horse manure has been.

Yeah i was out walking in the woods near horse pastures.. couldnt believe it when i looked down & saw a few of these.. & the sun shone through the trees and I heard a voice say eat!  eat & be merry! lol..

I was surprised being as its so late in the year?..

Is anyone else seeing late bloomers this season?..  I am thinking to take a day off tomorrow to go hunting proper..

Cheers

Sounds like it produced an adverse reaction together with alcohol, similar to what happens with Coprinopsis atramentaria.

It's not unthinkable that other species also might contain Coprine or similar compounds. Hard to tell since Psathyrella spp.
aren't normally eaten.
