Growing in light colored mulch in amonsgst ferns were the first few cyans I ever found!
What I would like to know is what the heck the other thing in the pic is.
Obviously an answer of "oh its cyanofibrillosa or cyanopus. pick those bastards!" would be sweet, but I just wanna know since there are a zillion amongst the cyans.

if you want gillshots and such i'll get em. Gonna try to get there stealth-like to get the pics that will make ID much easier.
-------------------- First Cyan (indeed first wild Psilocybe of any kind) that I ever did find! Oddly enough, she was alone, in a fairly dark coloured mix of compost and soil, where as every other cluster since was in light/alder type chips!

Yes, I will try to get gill and more shots on the morrow.
Best I can remember they were growing literally among the cyans, had slightly darker-than-beige stems and were strongly clustered.
If you can simply say "no effin way they are active" that will be good enough. I am still running on a natural high from my first cyan find! (well I found ONE before alone, this time I found... a number.

Who are 'they'...? The ones in his picture, bar the cyan he's holding, don't look like anything active to me...
Forget it, I misread the sentence completely... doh!

Don't know what they are either, but they're one of my indicator species for actives.

Given the limited details (but distinctive pileus) I'd call them Gymnopus subpruinosus.

That is it! Thank you for answering! They were growing in alder chips right mixed in with the Cyans so I am thinking they are worth looking out for as an indicator!
