IDREQ: What is this humungus fungus?

Habitat:
On the base of a beech tree in a beech forest in southern Sweden.

Gills:
Pores. White or cream white.

Stem:
Hard to tell. See pics.

Cap:
~20-40cm diameter shades of brown.

Spore print color:
Whitish.

Bruising:
No apparent bruising.

Maybe something like Meripilus giganteus or Bondarzewia mesenterica, does it stain any color when injured? What does it smell like?

No staining that I could see. Smells earthy mushroomy, not very distinct.

I'm guessing the former. If so it should stain black which I didn't see..
