It's one of my favorites from Terry Gilliam by far. Worth watching through a few times honestly. Has some pretty deep concepts concerning mythological archetypes that I like. Good twist on "deal with the devil" stories.

oh be quiet you. Drive won fucking best director at Cannes.

THE STYLE IS THE MOVIE. Its art. Your not really watching for the plot. Neon demon was just so utterly beautiful. Soundtrack, acting, lighting, cinematography.

This is really hard, I'm not a big movie person, much prefer shows...

End of Evangelion
Blade Runner
Labrynth
Alien 2
Titanic

This list is probably wrong, just having a hard time thinking right now...

art is subjective. Dont like it dont watch it.

Refn is a master in "show dont tell" movies are a visual medium. Very few movies these days do this. Just endless amounts of exposition. What the fuck is so wrong with symbolism? Is that not what art is? Expressing emotions through symbolism?

nope, artistic works should be able to stand on their own as works of pure aesthetics (which of course is subjective) i don't find Refn's films particularly aesthetic but i do find them interminably boring.

yea... I really disagree with that. but also confused... How could  you not find The neon demon aesthetically pleasing? It makes LA look so beautiful. The shots and locations are just so perfect. The amount of colour and contrast is incredible.

But anyway... I dunno... that seems so bland. I really dont think you get art... How can you look at art and feel nothing? are you dead inside? What about songs? there art... and I dont think you can judge them on "aesthetics"

You might be a psychopath... or just dead inside :P
