 mycelium is pretty aggressive
And your gonna get some pins everywhere throughout your substrate no matter what but just pick em when you harvest the whole first flush but im using clear liners now so its no problem and oh ya nice job

Why is a white liner to blame here? If you say light remind me to slap you lol. They pinned there because it was a more preferable area. Which means your surface isn't as ideal. Which means you need to work on your fruiting skills.
Proper surface hydration and FAE is an art that you'll develop (took me a year to figure it out), but never think it's because of a white liner that the surface isn't doing as well. I use no liners and get very little side pins.

Your right Mad Season
Early on when I first placed it in fruiting conditions there was way too much FAE. The surface lost more moisture then I was replenishing.
I still havent found a balancing point yet. Thinking next time a casing layer may give me more flexibility. Currently undecided.
Before the next attempt Ill be modifying the tub with larger diameter holes. And possibly using Pastywhyte's micropore tape tek instead of polyfill as recommended by Timtoshis.

A casing can help. But all you need is nice little beads of moisture on the sub surface during pinning. Next time mist from far away. Let the mist settle on the sub surface and watch the beads form on top of the sub. Also be careful not to have any pooling water! Youll eventually notice little beads glimmering in the light. That's all you need

Thanks ComebackKid, Im working in an area that can in no way be considered sterile, so what iv been doing is cracking the lid ever so slightly for misting to avoid air born contams. Is that a valid concern at this stage?
Some close ups

The first pic shows signs of spores beginning to drop. Should that one be harvested?

What kind of unsteril environment are we talkin here? Fully colonized sub is contam resistant and if you're using coir as a bilk substrate even more so. You really shouldn't have any issues with opening your lid to do a proper mist.
Yeah those look about reasy. You could leave em for a few more hours maybe

If an ideal environment was a 10 this would be 5 at best. lots of traffic, roommates, dust, clutter, not to mention one of the roommates is a professional bread mold cultivator.
One must make due with whats available

Honestly, that doesn't sound that bad to me. If mold spores are going to germinate then they will find a way weather you give your shrooms proper conditions or not.
I would focus more on maximizing your shrooms potential and less about what could go wrong in the process of getting er done
Also you should give your room mate shit for being a slob

Every day

After this ill be working a lot with agar, so ill have plenty of time to plan and reflect on the mistakes iv made so far.
List of mistakes this time around: Improper FAE hole size (tools needed) Air currents too powerful (fan too close) Temp control (read cold temps make them small(high 60s and below)) Improper humidification techniques Lacking humidity [Unknown mistake(s) placeholder]
Regarding the agar work Im looking to isolate the strongest genes. So far i have 10 samples from the original MS spawn. In addition I plan on taking samples of each of these fruits, as well as any note worthy ones that come after. Maybe spawn them to trays and see who comes out on top.

Picked the ones that were ready and made agar samples from them.

Status update
Growth is picking up, noticing more pins a few really advanced after those others were picked.
Fruit samples are beginning to spread on the agar.
Removed the liner to collect side pins, found a relatively large one on the bottom. Took a sample.
Decided to not replace the liner. I think this will help keep the sub better hydrated as the droplets where running down the side of the tub and getting trapped between liner and tub.

Tub was flipped and the bottom had a few "flushes"
total yield was ~30g bone dry
 some examples pictured
thanks for tuning in peace out!
