Wow, that game looks pretty cool and I like the art. I still have to finish dragon quest and then Morrowind, thanks again for letting me get it free by the way, after that I'll try Tropico if I don't get sucked back into rimworld.

I've been thinking of jumping into a tropico game for a couple years now, just never pulled the trigger. Any one in particular good to start with or can you just jump into 6?
...

Had never played previously
watched about 3-5 hours of a Tropico 5 playthrough
and about an hour of Tropico 6
then had to jump in

did benefit from knowing about things like building settings -- like to set up a bunch of plantations all over my main island and set them all to multi-culture setting
4 different types of plantations makes it even out, 7 makes the setting buff every plantation on the island

the game does have a robust sandbox mode
but am presently working through the missions
the missions help to contextualize the different eras the game goes through
whereas Cities Skylines unlocks more buildings based on population, Tropico unlocks them when advancing through eras
and advancing each era has different requirements; such as going to war with the Crown or buying Liberty from them in order to move from the Colonial era into the World Wars era and buildings

also there is a pretty constant stream of tasks to do in order to unlock little 'quests' in each mission, so it helps to orient in terms of which buildings will cheer up or benefit the population (and thus promote them to vote for me in election time)

the absurdity of some of it gives it a charm that makes it win over cities skylines right now
both let me build tourist destinations
but Tropico lets me steal world wonders from real-world places and bring them to my island
am currently playing a mission to make the most hyper-communist state and out-commie the commies in the Cold War
so stole a Islamic wonder that lets me give everyone a free High School education without having to build high schools anywhere
and a Japanese castle that buffs up the defense of all my buildings so when invasion finally happens the enemy tanks will have to waste more time chewing through my guard towers

Yeah, the bright colourful palette with tropical music playing for hours and hours really seems to lift my spirits
just by virtue of being all bright and pleasant to sit and watch between receiving export payments to build moar

Also want to buy Resident Evil.  To many games bought at once one gets bored.  If they are good it is like trying to read two or three books at a time, God I don't miss college, and trying to get back in that mindframe.

Then going on two vacations, one for 23 days and coming back and it is like what is this?  The memory of the controls and strategies go after awhile and I find myself trying to use the controls/buttons for different games.  And yes I do get fucked up a lot, lol.

Enjoy the warm weather months gamers.  However one chooses.

I haven't owned a show since 07 but I'm dying for another baseball game. Anyone know of the new nhl is good? The last few have gotten terrible reviews. I want to get into NBA2k. Even with sports i don't really follow, I love playing the games. Had rugby08, that game was so freakn fun, and I learned most of the rules of rugby haha. Madden19 is awesome. I am eagerly awaiting the day when they bring back NCAA football =[ or make a good NCAA basketball game.
I wish they would remake NBA and NFL street. The first ones of those were incredible.

Ive never raged about NPCs quite like I have in rimworld. the game really knows how to get my blood pressure up, but sometimes its worth it.

Are you sure you are old enough to be on the Shroomery?  What the fuck are you talking about 2007 sports games?  Or do you live in Brazil or something?

Emma: Ethereals Expire Doubly

then getting sir'd

Sekiro/Wolf is a pretty cool character, so may not actually keep the mod to replace him
unless they update Emma's outfit with cloth physics
but really worth a laugh every time Wolf's gruff voice comes out, or someone comments on my appearance
so may keep it as a light-hearted answer to some of the more challenging moments
corpses don't have the comical Dark Souls ragdolling, and the setting benefits from bits of levity

the game is not at all like Dark Souls,
aside from being totally like Dark Souls
:cookiemonster:
fighting through everything really has not been my way to success tho; instead sneak attacking everyone, running from combat then flanking around and sneak attacking more enemies
and, of course, using sneak attacks to knock off 50% of almost every minibosses health before actually fighting them
has made the game feel like less of an upfront challenge than Souls

dodge frames are short in terms of distance and timing, but the parry window is pretty generous
being able to pause and change equipment without interruption takes a lot of tension out of situations going bad
Stealth is super powerful and the AI is a little spotty in terms of caution (walk into a pile of corpses? don't even look around as tho something may be unusual -- subsequently get drop-attacked like the rest)
but being a ninja is so fun that everything else can slide

so after sinking some more hours into Sekiro,
feel like the glaring place it struggles compared to Dark Souls is the limitation on weapon types
did make use of the Uchigatana in Souls, so not fundamentally prejudiced against katanas
but only having the one style of primary combat, even with the various unlockable skills and stuff, decreases some of my fun

tied to that, the fact that most items rewarding exploration are consumables rather than alternate armours or weapons (as they were in Souls),
the shiny chasing does not feel as exciting -- some are really rewarding new skill trees but the majority are consumable sugar items

as an actual Sekiro-centric complaint
find the Kanji alert in combat to be less beneficial than my initial perception
early in the game when there are limited means to counter from a mechanic perspective
the alert fairly consistently signifies the same style of attack
as the game expands and more counters are added
the alert symbol appears to remain the same across all sub types
so it sort of serves as an alert to look at the character model and try and figure out what type of one-counter-only attack is incoming
it would be nice if the three different types of attacks had three clearly different notifiers, and could thus be used to know what type of dodge is required
at present, it feels more like a distraction from being able to pay consistent attention to the enemy character model

in terms of challenge and reward,
have found the boss variation to be fairly nice
hit a brief wall against Blazing Bull, so went down another path and beat on Madame Butterfly
then used the skills developed in her fight to try a different approach to the Bull, and found success
so have not found really frustrating levels of difficulty yet
but a big part of that for me is flexibility of play

Skyrim.

For some reason it was in my xbox 'ready to install' list for months, no idea how it got there as I didn't buy it, but hey, not complaining

I won't lie though, even with mods it feels and looks a bit dated... Still lovin it regardless.

That choose your own beginning mod is great.

Wow.  That really has changed.  Axis and Allies, they really are branching out.  Steam better still have this at 30 dollars. Fuck 50.  Will wait for a price drop. Looks intriguing though.

Cool Thanks!!!

I've played every elder scrolls except Morrowind and almost purchased it last week. I'm going to download now!

It's definitely my favorite one, the land you get to explore is so alien and weird, love it!

It is pretty dated though, I tried firing it up about a year ago on my old xbox and I couldn't really get into it, also had no mods to fix it up a bit, I'm sure playing it on PC with a graphic enhancing and a couple npc tweaks would freshen it up though.

I would be very, very happy if they were to do a remake with current gen tech, I'd take that over elder scrolls 6 any day.
