Shadowrun may have the easiest 'answer' or insight into this Orcs/Dwarves/Elves/Trolls/Undead are the most closely human-esque variations and fantasy racism is a mainstay of fantasy titles but 'good' fantasy creates its own world and contextualizes the racism that way
even beyond the staples, digging into it further Lizards/Argonians/Lizardman (Warhammer) are effectively represented as Dragonborn from D&D and Skaven (Warhammer again) are paralleled with Ratfolk from D&D having anthro animals is a good way to profit off of furries but there is not enormous call for them beyond that
outside of those we are really looking at non-bipedal creatures as characters
Would really dig if Divinity let me play a variation of a Drider

but such a scenario is unlikely due to how game design works Humanoid races can all be programmed with similar skeleton and animation packs cuts down on overall work flow adding a Drider playable race would be a lot of extra modeling and animation work for content they cannot ensure a majority, or even an appreciable amount, of players will engage with
so largely it is due to design costs but also partially due to the whole nothing new under the sun side of things

orcs, elves, dwarves and shit are not the only humanoid characters. Just the only ones that have been made because they refuse to think the slightest bit outside the box.
Ever heard of Stellaris? There are literally hundreds of races you can play as and half of them are bipedal and "humanoid". You know why? They were creative. They didnt just take the same design that a million game companies did before them just to "save on time". Thats some lazy bullshit. Ive grown to hate fantasy games becauuse they are all exactly the same right down the combat. Imo, make your own goddamn game or dont make one at all.

Yeah, bought it last time it was on sale and returned it because every 30 seconds it would drop to 10fps before going back to normal watched a number of streams before deciding to get it

Because Stellaris races are represented as portraits on a flat background not 3d models with full animation packs significantly cheaper graphics style, and takes a lot less time to work with

Stellaris is a pretty standard 4x game with a space theme Is it your first, or did you play stuff like Ascendancy back in the 90s?

Personally put more time into Populous
which likely plays some role in my more recent appreciation for the Civilization series and definitely plays into my love of Black and White 1 and 2 which it was effectively the precursor to

Thanks for the team analysis Tantrika, I'll definitely be taking some of that advice in my next playthrough. I really want to try Fane but healing with poison will really throw me off. I can already see myself casting regeneration nonstop and ruining my day. I'm thinking about making Fane my summoner as well as a healer with necromancer. The irony is rich. I also really like the ability to pick locks with skeleton fingers, completely removing the need for lockpicks should you spec thievery on him. There's just so many options, it's hard for me to decide! Also, any thoughts on the Leech ability? I didn't play much of the first game but leech seemed pretty good. I was considering trying to find some synergy between blood rain + contagion and maybe even making a full undead team for fun.
And I hope everything goes well at the doctors today, good luck!
Do not personally care for the undead lockpick trick because Divinity 1 taught me that nails + repair hammer = lockpicks and there are more than enough nails in Fort Joy to cover all the locks and still make slipping immunity boots
Liked Leech a lot in OS1, but do not use it for OS2 OS2 has a lot more flexibility in terms of healing skills and one of the necromancer skills lets you absorb blood to heal which is nice because Leech just auto-procs at the end of each turn but the skill allows blood to be saved until needed
there is also a real neat skill available by crafting a Hydrosophist spell book + a Scoundrel skill book gives a buff that adds 50% life-steal to all damage
Do use Blood Rain tho, and it is especially great in battles where enemies have limited/no physical armour have used it to apply bleed to 6+ enemies in a single go while also dousing fire surfaces AP efficient
it is also helpful that Geomancer and Hydrosophist have Armour/Magical Armour buffs since keeping both meters filled means health goes virtually untouched except by armour piercing skills

The last four games I bought for ps4 I started and just lost interest. Assasssins Creed Syndicate, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, Resident Evil biohazard, Tomb Radider 20th annaversery. I did like and finish Uncharted 4. I'm just waiting for Grand Turismo Sport to drop in my mailbox and I'll be playing again.

Only been playing Overwatch.
I think it may have ruined me for single player games. When the Destiny 2 demo released I downloaded it, played for about 10 minutes then uninstalled. It looked great, ran great, and seemed like it should be a good game, but it's just excruciatingly slow. I'm so used to the frenetic pace of Overwatch that having only two or three enemies casually come around a corner is just painful.

The beginning of D2 is definitely slower paced than the rest of the game. That's to give beginners a chance to feel out the mechanics and function of the game. But I'll agree that Overwatch can be fast paced and a lot of fun. I have both games and love them

Tried taking a bit of a break from Divinity and hopping into Total War Warhammer 2 now that it has released
Started a Dark Elf campaign, but keep making nooblet mistakes like over-extending and poor battle positioning seems like my issues with focus are coming up again e.e
going to be in to the doctor again in a few weeks, so if nothing has improved by then will see what course of action to proceed with
Am more excited for a feature that is still not in game yet tho -- for people who own both Total Warhammer 1 and 2 they are introducing a combined map of both games with all the major factions; basically a super sized version of either game
Quite possibly going to hop back over to Skyrim Bethesda has fired up the Creation Club for both Skyrim and Fallout 4 and, as presumed, it is mostly a means to make money with paid mods for PS4 after Sony blocked the majority of free mod content
Opting in to the Steam Beta for Creation Club on Skyrim this week gives free access to Survival mode Am interested to see how Bethesda's idea of Survival in Skyrim stacks up vs. Frostfall, Immersive Needs, and Disease mods but was very certain to note that a feature (Surival mode) that Bethesda added for free to Fallout 4 is being charged for in Skyrim -- despite PC and Xbone users being able to get mods that make similar changes for free will give it a chance tho, since opting in to the Beta gets free lifetime ownership of the mode

Well, I finally am getting some much needed days off from work
Been getting lost in my current game after kids go to bed
I'm still playing Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Hands down, in my top 5 favourite games of all time.
That being said, I'm about 60 shrines and 4 divine beasts deep in the game. I've opened up the full map and have spent a good amount of time exploring. I'm not a completionist and I don't see much more incentive to go after the remaining shrines or pointless side quests. I see myself facing Ganon sooner than later. I've put a good 50 hours into this game and I think that's stellar for a guy like me on one game.
Fantastic game. But I'm a huge complex dungeon fan...i wish they had actual dungeons and mini bosses and bosses.
I thought the divine beast bosses were a joke.
I'm a huge Zelda fan boy. Huge. And this Zelda is probably my favourite but it has so much more potential.
I always finish the game I'm working on before moving onto the next.
I'll be finishing resident evil 7 after this.
And after that....eagerly waiting to play the new God of war.
One of my most anticipated games is last of us 2

See...while agree with your assessment of the divine beasts, my opinion differs slightly
I agree that it was lame there were no enemies and such.
But the puzzle aspect and the theme of controlling and manipulating the map/dungeon itself to interact with it and solve puzzles....genious. so I give props to that side of the divine beasts
Why couldnt we have traditional epic dungeons AND divine beasts?
As far as difficulty...i rarely died in any previous zelda.
This Zelda had me raging at times lmao. I died a lot. I remember the first time I faced a lynel and only had like 6 hearts or something. He fucked me right up lol
Props to getting all shrines. I'm not a completionist and I don't really see the incentive to do that myself
Props tho. That's beastly

ChemicalSpark said: I agree, breadth of the wild is a great game but the divine beasts were a joke. They had no mini bosses or even enemies besides that lame floating goo. I grew up playing Zelda and enjoyed how challenging they were, this new one was a bit too easy in my opinion though.
I've got over 120 hours in, completed every shrine, and most quests. Been tying to get into the master mode for another play through but the interest isn't there at the moment.
I think alot of more recent Nintendo games have been hyped up to old school players but geared more to new (8 year old) players.
From what I've seen of the Metroid 2 remake it is very much that sort of game. But then I guess you can't ask for more on the DS. Hopefully the new Prime is better. Corruption was a Wii game and it was dark and difficult.
Then again I think the last Prime and the last Zelda were early Wii games, when alot of "families" and adults were still interested in Nintendo. I think the U pretty much fucking killed most casual adult interest in the consoles.
