Oh hell naw, this is Pokemon. The last one I finished in about 30 hours.  I've done close to 100 hours on certain games, but 300?

Alot of open world games do have 300+ hours of content. If only I could reinvest some of my league of legends and call of duty hours into other games that didn't make me break multiple headsets.

I'm ashamed to admit I've spent nearly 75,000 hours on these games alone. Unemployment + crippling anxious depression + drugs = lol life

At least I kinda made achievements in COD. At one point I was ranked among the top 5% of players in north america. Top 2% if I remember the ranking brackets correctly.

300?
Child's play with a disability

+a few hundred more before the 360 died

+ about a thousand more between ps3 and a pirated copy

+ Civ 4 which was not on Steam

+ 7 other less frequently played characters, since the account allows 8

Pokémon Red had 150+ hours on it
and Pokémon Ruby probably has nearly 400 due to all the pvp in high school

wish the same could be said about achievements and any of my time gaming
wanted to get into 3d art as a byproduct of modding,
but months of antidepressants killed all my motivation
such that making it out of bed as far as the computer chair has become an accomplishment
and my aspiration is simply to manage semi-productive things with my time
instead of pissing it away gaming
but gaming is frequently my only real distraction from compulsive thoughts of suicide
so between a rock and a hard place

at least with online gaming there is the excuse of connecting with *someone* in society
took up playing healers online on the premise that, at very least,
could make an evening of gaming more pleasant for someone who has a job, a family, and an actual life
and just wants to have a gaming night

That's insane. I only have one game with comparable hours, I was hooked for a couple years. My next most played games don't even come close, I'm embarrassed of this one:

I'm surprised you played Fallout 4 so much.  I thought people weren't as pleased with that one. On another note, I need a gaming rig again. All I got is this busted ass screen Macbook.

Have 80 hours in l4d 1 and only 30+whatever splitscreen time on my roommate's xbox in l4d2
different strokes

Fallout 4 may still be my least-played of the series
but it is the only one with a full time tally due to only playing on Steam
am a big fan of modding tho, and the Fallout 4 mod community was really well connected
due to how many of us came over from Skyrim mods

my mod folder for Fallout 4 is 64 gigs
the entire game itself is only 50 something gigs
the vast majority of my time is fiddling/playing with mods

Making mods is a better legacy that my historical records on ps3 that will be forgotten and probably even lost in a few more years.

Played the Destiny 2 beta. It was cool... until the mission ended. Ugh. I can't wait for the game. I'm not a crucible person. Unless I'm in a fire team, then of course, whatever they want. Anyone here play Destiny on PS4? I need more friends.

Been putting a bunch of hours in on ESO
they have a PvP event running right now, to celebrate the 'holidays'
commemorating Pelinal Whitestrakes victory over the Ayleids

Double PvP points and top-tier quality gear in the prize boxes
so mndfreeze is going to have to deal with a bunch of new gears in the guild bank

just about to start this game

i played a bit of Ctuhulu Saves The World (same devs) and it was pretty funny for a parodic LRPG affair...this game is way more fleshed out and a full on SNES/Genesis 16-bit Retro affair, more indicative of Phantasy Star or Chrono Trigger.

i hope it's good!

Does the PvP really get you to keep playing? I've never really been interested in PvP, I'm more for PvM myself; which leads me to my next question, is there a raid system for mid-end game? I felt like the potential for long term gameplay was lacking, whereas I could play Oblivion or Skyrim seemingly endlessly with mods.
...

To be honest,
kind of dread the day that PvE becomes as interesting as PvP
PvP is interesting because the individuals faced in combat
think, reason, and respond to my actions
the only way PvE content becomes more interesting is through artificial challenge
by disproportionately pumping up the stat pools of the mobs so they do more damage or have higher health

there is group raid content, but have not personally run it
group PvE in MMOs is tough for me
not due to difficulty, but because the way to excel at dungeons and raids
is to turn them into a routine set of actions and maximize efficiency
which drives my OCD crazy
and since gaming is more typically harnessed as an escape
stressing myself out by enacting OCD tendencies in gaming is probably a bad idea

you are not going to get a real comparable PvE experience in ESO to something like Skyrim
as MMOs utilize no difficulty slider, and thus make basic mobs easy enough to be faced by anyone

presently the war in Cyrodiil is the most appealing part of the game to me
and was also before initially leaving due to their massive server issues
but the map has been packed with the event on, and have been facing few lag issues
so maybe they finally fixed whatever was fucking up

beyond that, the game still holds appeal to me as a lore nut,
there are a ton of provinces to visit and all the races and locations have unique cultures
which has the bonus of being able to nerd out over Elder Scrolls lore with other PvP players
:cookiemonster:

they have been making efforts recently to make the gameplay more reminiscent of single player titles
the first 50 levels have been really sped up, and 51 unlocks the Champion system
which is basically assigning perk attributes like the Skyrim star signs

also they brought in player housing
so saving up 1.3 million gold to buy myself a Mansion outside of Daggerfall
and my main crafting character is learning all the furniture blueprints to furnish it afterward
then will look into buying the smaller houses in all the other cities
which makes it like my tendency to play house in Skyrim
but actually have the capacity to invite people over to join me

as an aside from all this,
have been tackling the Dark Brotherhood solo PvE stuff recently
and absolutely love that they recreated Anvil so well that it feels like revisiting Oblivion
they even have the full Chapel of Dibella as a house of the Divines
which is great to me, since Oblivion's Knights of the Nine DLC kills all the NPCs inside the Chapel :frown:

they seem to have done similar with the Morrowind expansion
where starting a new character with Morrowind installed
starts the player out getting off a boat at the docks of Seyda Neen
really capitalizing on the nostalgia trips
but nostalgia trips are why all my characters are in Daggerfall Covenant as an alliance to begin with
:pantytail:

Honestly my favorite part of the Elder Scrolls series has to be the lore as well. It's the only reason I've even considered getting ESO. It's probably the reason I'm so stuck on Oblivion being my favorite game of all time. There's just so much content, between the lore regarding the Ayleid, the quest to kill Umbra, and lore behind her sword, the many gods, the Daedric realm, all the tiny easter eggs like the troll under the bridge ect...Just makes the experience complete. I enjoyed the intro to ESO but it felt kind of empty, being thrust into the world like that and knowing so little.  With that said I haven't played Morrowind; I want to play Skywind when it's released. I was even tempted to try Morroblivion, since it's available for download.
...

The scale of ESO can be a bit much,
and there is difficulty adjusting to the presentation of the world
in the sense that the game was built to be leveled
then got rid of the zone progression so the player can do anything

Cynical Altruist said:

The war in Cyrodiil seems interesting enough, is it pvp based, taking over forts and such to further your side? One of the main reasons I wanted to try ESO was because I've always wanted to see Elsweyr, and while I love the fact that they're putting the whole game world into ESO it bothers me at the same time. I feel like there's so much content that they could create just for each individual province that quite a bit could get looked over. Imagine going through Elsweyr with a survival mode(or mod), or even Black Marsh. Dehydration in the desert, The diseases you'd encounter in the marshes, the flora and fauna... and the lizards and the cats!  :yesnod: I'm especially interested in the Shadowscales of BM, which is unfortunate since there's only one left in Skyrim, which leads me to believe that in the future they won't be referenced in the standalones at all.
...

Cyrodiil war is PvP based
the various Fort Ruins in Oblivion
are standing forts in ESO
and fought for control over via siege

Cyrodiil map is open PvP due to the war system
but also has various PvE quests
things like helping out Weynon Priory with errands
or helping war refugees eke out a living in Cheydinhal or Bruma

The Gold Coast (Anvil and Kvatch) is not part of the war map
and is instead part of the Dark Brotherhood DLC

If you have wanted to see Elsweyr
ESO is not the place to do it
only one city in Elsweyr has been present since launch
and it is on a map that 50%+ based in Valenwood
none of the future DLCs that have been previewed are set to take place in Elsweyr, either
personally consider it to be a strong sign that Elder Scrolls 6 will be in Elsweyr
and that ESO is not 'allowed' to touch the province further than the city of Dune
but that is speculation on my part, so take it with a grain of salt

the various sub quests do a decent job of fleshing out the cultures of areas
there are a handful of quests in the black marsh maps pertaining to the Shadowscales
and one of the 4-person dungeons in the Shadows of the Hist DLC is based on helping the Shadowscales
the fact that there is only one left in Skyrim
more pertains to the state of the Dark Brotherhood by that point
wherein they lost power in Cyrodiil, and rioters destroyed the Night Mother's crypt
and the Sanctuary in Wayrest (in High Rock; visited in Daggerfall and ESO) was destroyed by pirates
the Shadowscales are simply Argonians that hatch under the sign of the Shadow
but they were traditionally 'given' to the Dark Brotherhood at birth

Skyrim did a lot of things like that
which likely ties to the fact that Arena-Oblivion are all based around the life of Uriel Septim
and have the player sort of saving the world
Skyrim is an exploration of what happens after the world cannot be saved and falls into ruin for centuries
which is why the Mages College and Companions exist independent of the (by this point non-existant) Mages Guild
or the Fighter's Guild which does not have authority in Skyrim

Skyrim has the death of the 'last Shadowscale'
but, conceptually, it is really easy to revive if the rebuilding the Dark Brotherhood ending is considered canon
hatch some new Argonians

I feel like the experience would be degraded, knowing that there's other individuals typing in chat, trading, and playing in the same world. I guess that's just me though; I've always been a fan of lore in single player games but I kind of feel like it loses the magic when it's a multiplayer game. I definitely see the appeal, especially with the ability to have guests in your house that you've put all the effort in for, that's a wicked neat feature. As well as playing with friends in general, but in my eyes it's no replacement to the level of immersion you get when you know you're alone in the world. If ESO had roleplay I might honestly be more interested.
...

When you mention roleplay
do you mean roleplay guilds, or something else?
there are a number of roleplay guilds

typically turn off zone chat, so do not deal with other people typing in chat
but, beyond that, the other players make cities feel more alive
lots of people running around doing errands with no concern for me
rather than the intense focus all the NPCs have on me solving their problems
it also makes the economy feel a bit more 'real'
tho there have been issue of gold inflation
but the economy being active independent of my input
yet also responding to my input
helps it to feel meaningful

but this is as someone who has done (obviously not full) 'playthroughs' of the real games
of characters built for Speech and Barter and Alchemy
and traversed the cities buying, selling and trading
while, in the same time frame, one of my other characters is off saving the world
do not even let them live in the same houses
due to the property having been sold to one of my other characters

but being a crafter/trader in ESO
is actually a real thing
since it is possible to level crafting independent of adventuring
and buy materials-->sell crafted gear, potions, or food
impacts adventurers in the world that are actually active at the same time as me

ESO is still, mechanically, very different from the real titles
with the only 'real' commonality being the world and lore
but both have their merits, and personally derive differing experiences in playing them
but the places they have managed to make overlap
is quite satisfying as a long-time fan of the series

What were your favorite quests out of all them in the Elder Scrolls franchise? I'm not very original  Mine still has to be Whodunit. But I absolutely loved the final quest of the thieves guild in Oblivion as well as the finale to the dark brotherhood in Skyrim.
...

Mechanically whodunit is interesting, having the opportunity to play characters of against each other
but after finding the 'optimal' kill order, have always ended up doing the quest the same

my favourite would either be the overarching main quest in Daggerfall,
due to my appreciation for how it treats the player character
as being both instrumental, and yet unimportant
such that the player character 'saves' High Rock and Hammerfell
but is never considered powerful enough to handle the Mantella
and has to hand it off to another character
which, by the effect of the Warp in the West that the event caused
all endings simultaneously become canon
such that giving the Mantella to Mannimarco in Daggerfall
is what allows him to ascend to godhood and provide the Shade of the Revenant
which shows up as the impetus for making Black Soul Gems in Oblivion

alternatively, the overarching Dark Brotherhood/Black Hand questline in Oblivion
as the build up of the character's connection with Lucien Lachance
before walking in to see him skinned and hanging from the ceiling
while knowing, and being unable to openly reveal, the identity of the real killer
really captures what the Dark Brotherhood is about

being that i had a Sega, when I played Wonder Boy on emulator, i was like, "damn, i wish i had this when i was a kid".

would have probably got me more primed to play RPGs. either way, the new one looks amazing. i have thought of getting it, maybe on sale.
