I dried cracker dry. Been stored in freezer bags a dresser drawer for about 4 months. Now they are a little flimsy not cracker any more. Does anyone see any issues with this?

Ziplocks are not air tight, over time your mushies will equalize with the atmospheric humidity and become a little more flexible. I've never noticed a loss in potency because of this.

Happened to me lots of time. I've never noticed potency loss either. I use jars to store my dried goodies. Along with a small bag of those small pearls which dehumidify. I don't remember the name in english.
Keeps them cracker dry though.

Ziplock bags suck for storing shrooms. They aren't airtight. No wonder they were so flimsy. They'll probably still work but they might not be as strong as they were. I use mason jars and they last for months. You could impulse seal them in the proper plastic too

They give you 2 big drawers in your fridge to store shrooms. Why don't people use them??
P.S. baggies are for high school kids. Adults use glass jars for storing their actives.

I had the same problem years ago. I now store mine in quart jars and add a tablespoon of uncooked white rice to absorb any possible moisture. It's worked well for me.

Bags are for high school kids and mushroom growers who don't want to have 50 half gallon jars around. Do you know how many jars it would take to store a couple pounds of mushrooms and how much space it takes up compared to bags? At one point I had a standard monotub full of bags of dried mushrooms, probably 5 pounds or so. I can't even imagine how much space that would take up if they were in jars.

I stored harvests in gallon ziplocs- in the fridge. But they only stayed there for less than a week. For herbs, or a small personal amount, a jar would still be the best option IMO.
Why don't more people store the potent actives in the fridge??

because once you get hooked on growing you figure out it would be weird and impractical to have 5-6 fridges in your house.

Because the fridge is full of moisture is it not? Also if I were to have stored those 5 lbs in the fridge where would I have put my food?

I like to powder mine and store them in one of those old ceramic coffee jars. Pretty safe, even if I leave them out on the counter. I can fit several pounds dried in the one I picked up, and the gasket at the top keeps moisture out. I also like that they have a hollow lid, so if I want to be extra safe, I can jam a desiccant packet up in there to grab any residual moisture.

I had this happen. I just put in a box with damp rid and 2 days later were cracker dry and sent me spinning. Was surprised. No loss of potency.

I have a 5 gallon bucket with a screw on air tight lid (got the lid at one of the popular big box hw stores) and a desiccant box designed for a safe. I throw that in the bottom and finish drying my mushrooms, once done I just leave them there long term. The desiccant box has color indicating beads so once it's nearing capacity I toss it in the oven for a few hours and it's refreshed again.
