Which too use horticulture Coir or the exo terra stuff? I heard its been having hulls and such in it. I no some horticultural Coir has Trich in it which is easily killed in the bucket tek or using proper pasteurization why not?
Thanks Van

Trich is present in the air, pretty much every where.
It's very abundant.
If you do the bucket tek properly, then you are pasteurizing your sub.
Coir is very resistant to contamination. Thus why a lot of people use it.
Have you read up on the difference between pasteurization and sterilization?
I'm not sure if I understood your question.

I use the Chinese cheap brand of exo terra. It has all kinds of stuff in it. At 1.50 for three bricks cant be surprised with what you get. Just get the cheapest you can. Either work great

It is not a proper pasteurization. The bucket tek works for coir/verm. Won't work with manure or straw because it partly sterilizes the substrate. (Temps are higher than proper pasteurization temperatures. That kills beneficial microbes in manure/straw supplemented substrates)

I stand corrected. Yes this is only useful when doing a coir/verm sub.
I don't like playing with poo myself.
