ANyone watch hamiltons pharmacopia? 1

It seems like there is more and more programs on tv portraying plants and drugs in a more positive light. I like this new showw, Hamilton pharmcopia. THere is an epsidoe where he travels to mexico to use salvia in a traditgional ceremony style with a salvia shaman. Very interesting. The first attempt doesnt work and the shaman tells him his clothing scared away the salvia spirit so she dresses him up as a traditional oaxaca warrior and he has a great trip.
I wonder if my clothing has anything to do with my bad salvia experiences.

Why would your clothing cause you to have a bad trip, if my clothing doesn't? I don't wear traditional oaxacan clothing. You can't just believe everything a shaman says. They don't know everything.

I could not be happier that this show exists. Have been a fan of Viceland for a little bit now and it has taken the place of comedy central as my favorite channel. Hamilton Morris also has a special/doc about tripping on hallucinogenic frogs that came on viceland the other day. Just thought i would let you guys know in case you didnt already.

Salvia also is widely reported to have a reverse tolerance, she could have used the first trip as a primer for the 2nd to really go off. As for the clothing, it could be psychological. His clothing, a link/anchor to his home state. By changing clothing, immersing himself in a new cultural state, he may have psychologically been more open to the effects of a new experience.

Yea, I really dig the show...I've been watching this show since vice started to produce it something like 6 or 7+ years ago, there's lots of other older episodes out there besides the current season/new stuff.
I watched the episode on Salvia last night, well done....I would love to see the plant in it's natural habitat like that, and have the opportunity to eat fresh leaves in such a setting/ceremony. Knowing Hamilton's kinda quiet, shy, & passive demeanor from watching this show over the years, I found it hilarious when he was going through what appeared orgasmic like bliss/euphoria during the peak of that chewed salvia trip. Put a smile on my face for sure, as well as seeing him dressed up in their traditional garb rocking back & forth while he was chewing and coming up, just looked goofy .
The reason he didn't feel it much at all the first go around is because the leaves were made into a quick wash cold brew tea, and the active component in salvia is not really all that soluble in water. If he would have ate the leaves first like he did during his second attempt, I have no doubt he would have tripped regardless of what clothes he was wearing.
I've been getting curious and interested in working with salvia lately (via chewing, sublingual, or tincture rather than smoking), and this episode has certainly fueled that interest....From the perspective of an outside observer, his experience seemed so much different than the typical smoked salvia experience.

I knew there was an episode in regards to mushrooms in Mexico...and funny, once I heard about this episode I instantly thought about and figured Alan would be on it or somehow involved with that episode .
That's cool.

I actually used to love Hamilton, still like his writing style but don't like his condescending nature when speaking with peers. The one where he visits Shulgin is good, same with the one about the Sapo toad.
