So I am very excited as I spotted my 1st primordial, since I grew 10 years ago. It is a fat little fuck. I spotted a few other smaller ones. You cant tell in the pic but with the eye you can spot the very beginning of cap formation, very faint but there. I hope, but doubt, that I will have a few fresh shrooms to eat this weekend as I am off work sat through mon.

came from this LOL

Sadly this is on this accidental mini-cake, came from shaking a jar, this part would not break apart so did this just for fun, in a mini SGFC made out of a plastic Kool-Aid container. So glad I got 12 pint cakes a day behind this little guy.

Difficult hobby to not start up again, its so satisfying when all goes well.
Curious to see what you have planned for those pint cakes, grow log? How quickly did they colonize?

Many colonized in 2 1/2 weeks. I birthed, dunked, rolled, and stuck in a SGFC. vermiculite didn't stick so well so on day 3 I sprayed very well and gently sprinkled vermiculite all over again. They been in the SGFC for 5 days now. I will also be bottom watering as soon as I get pins. Some people say pint size cakes are no good, takes to long to colonize, but I have not had issues really. I know I will be posting pics as they go. I hope the bigger cakes and the bottom watering will get me some bigger sized fruits.
When I first started back in 2006 all I had was a book. Didn't even know this site existed. Had a lot of failing and learned things the hard way. I found this site but had no internet so had to look up a few things at a friends. With little help I figured out trays way back then. On my own I figured out to use deep foil pans with lids. I put 2 holes on long sides and one on short sides like you would with a mono tub. I didn't even use poly fill. Just melted small holes, put a couple quarts spawn in there, cased and misted. I got an average of 1.3-1.4 oz per, on 1st flush,in trays that was about the size of a sheet of paper. At least I didn't melt the holes until it was ready.I was happy as fuck the 1st time I had a QP of shrooms. GOD I had NO clue about proper FC or encouraging pinning.

Sounds interesting man, we have ALOT in common :-) It shall be interesting to watch us both as we both have past experience and registered here about the same time. I'll be watching those pint cakes man, as I said to you earlier, I failed many times with pints as have others here, I know it can be done as I had a few turn out ok, but the time and contam rate due to stalled cakes drove me to follow the tek to a T. I'm pretty stoked man. All the best, Dick

I just used longer PC time, good genetics, and left lid loose for GE. I recently took 12CC solution. Turned it into about 40. Did 8 pints and 16 half pints. All 16 halfs are doing awsom as well as 3 pints. I guess the other 5 didn't get enough spore. Either way I'm still happy no signs of contam. Shook the 3 pints at about 30% and they recovered in 24 hrs
