I watched some smug pollster on the morning of the election rubbing his palms together and saying that honestly, he gave Trump a 1-2% chance of victory. I had just read The Black Swan by Taleb so was convinced these people were all full of shit and that he could very possibly win. I took a nap that evening and woke up just as they were realizing that Trump was going to win. It was surreal but not really shocking.

And this video is of the Black Swan event unfolding.

yes, let's keep reliving great moments of his being elected, and keep our blinders on to what Trump is doing now.

Christ, Trump is beyond stupid.

Trump says ‘nobody really knows’ if climate change is real

Quote:

“Look, I’m somebody that gets it, and nobody really knows. It’s not something that’s so hard and fast. I do know this: Other countries are eating our lunch.”

Yeah, they're developing the technologies of the future and we're talking about saving the coal industry.

..."i'm not aware that that could happen..."

*scratches head*

then what the fuck is the point of it, if....

i'm too tired to explain how stupid his train of thought is...i knew what it was...but didn't know it was the actual deciding factor in electing president...so what is the point of it, if it's not a deciding factor....

if the election was already decided, then what is the point of having the electoral vote? in otherwords, yes, dumbshit, the electoral college can decide to vote in whichever why they choose (depending on the state; which is retarded in a so-called free country; should be for any and all states) because it's their decision to make...why the fuck would they use someone else's decision for their vote? how does that even make any sense. :doublefacepalm: and if it was based on the prerequisite popular vote, then why have an electoral one? good God...

my head....

"where's the accountability"

he was...E-LEC-TED.

PS: using baseball jargon to address the idiot...BOOYA, 'Murica.

Exactly. You could have easily just counted the electoral votes in the states and submitted that to congress. Instead you assign them to a person, who then goes and votes. Makes no sense to have actual electors unless they have some function beyond just representing a vote.

It's almost like hamilton looked into the future and saw Donald Trump, a puppet of a foreign state, without the intellectual capacity to run the country.

Quote:

Men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice.

Therefore, the direct election of the president is left up to those who have been selected by the voters to become the electors. This indirect election is justified by Hamilton because while a republic is still served, the system allows for only a certain type of person to be elected president, preventing individuals who are unfit for a variety of reasons to be in the position of chief executive of the country.

This is reflected in his later fears about the types of people who could potentially become president. He worries that corrupted individuals could, particularly those who are either more directly associated with a foreign state, or individuals who do not have the capacity to run the country. The former is covered by Article II, Section 1, v of the United States Constitution, while the latter is covered by Hamilton in Federalist 68, where he notes that the person who will become president will have to be a person who possesses the faculties necessary to be a president, stating that,

Talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in a single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of merit, to establish him in the esteem and confidence of the whole Union, or of so considerable a portion of it as would be necessary to make him a successful candidate for the distinguished office of President of the United States
