The other 20% of us are feeding the other 80% of you who are too busy producing alternating columns of numbers to do anything with tangible benefits. Tell me, would you rather live in a world devoid of Ruby on Rails developers, or farmers?
Each Midwestern farmer feeds 160 people. That's a huge responsibility, one which most people in urban centers have zero understanding of. These major metro areas have no business telling farmers what they can and can't do. This is one reason amongst many that the framers went out of their way to ensure that no one in this country would simply not matter.
This is the primary distinction between a Democracy, which the U.S. has never been, and a Republic. Before you whimper, know that if the U.S. were a Democracy, there would likely not be gay rights, or rights for any marginal or miniscule section of the population. Democracies are inherently xenophobic. Republics acknowledge and protect the rights of groups too small to have a voice in a Democracy, thereby promoting diversity.
In closing, look at what California did to their power supply. You expect the rest of the country to take instruction from a group who got what they voted for, then disliked it so badly they hire The Terminator to fix it, and tell the rest of the country we owe it to them to fix their problem?

You say you're feeding 80% of the rest of the country which is a fair point, but in reality you guys would also be bankrupt and financially destitute if it weren't for us contributing the most taxes out of all of us to fund the nation.

When has that ever happened... are you referring to the FDA and agriculture law and shit?

That would actually be more likely to happen if you gave states their own individual rights over following federal law. If the entire USA were a democracy it seems we likely wouldn't have had a Republican president in the past 20 years, considering Democrats won the popular vote almost every single time except for one election

Tl;dr "there are too many liberals in the country, so we have to even things out by reducing their political power"
That is an indefensible position if you believe in democracy. (And stop saying the US isn't a democracy. It is a democracy. If it wasn't a democracy, we wouldn't have elections.)

No, we would simply not have farm subsidies, which means food costs would rise. Farm subsidies are viewed as a "great equalizer" in that it makes food uniformly affordable for everyone. Remove them, and let food be a true open market commodity, and I shouldn't have to explain to you what would happen.
Koods- I'm all broke up about your tldr because clearly it wasn't so tl you dr.
Also, fail on political knowledge (as if I needed something so stark as your last comment to know that). The U.S. is not a Democracy. The U.S. is not a Democracy. North Korea has elections. There is more to a Democracy than "has elections" in spite of what the coloring book that guides your political conscience says.

no, the US is a republic... hell, even california is a republic but your celebrity worship has you believing everything is a democracy

but since you were so adamant that the constitution said that 270 electoral votes were needed to become president, let's see what else the constitution has to say:
Article IV of the Constitution "The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government,"
interesting, california is violating the constitution by giving the people a democrat government, lucky for us in the rest of the US, we now have a republican government in the house, the senate and the executive branch, not to mention most states are now republican states

Koods moves for the redirect in a last-ditch effort to avoid having to learn something.
I think a better transliteration of what I said than "too many liberals" would have been something like "stupid is like gravity. And shit's getting waaaayyyyy too heavy on the coasts."
Stupid people tend to clump together, like charged particles, because clearly stupid people are missing something (for demonstration purposes consider it to be an electron).
For example, if you tell a nominally intelligent person that there's a huge fault line here and massive earthquakes and destruction are only a question of "when" instead of "if", that nominally smart person will move to say Indiana where the ground doesn't want to kill you.
Liberals will build the sixth largest economy in the world on top of it.

I'm referring to that movement some years back when a bunch of Texans and country folks were petitioning to have California secede from the USA, when in reality California alone contributes to like 20% of the economy or something crazy like that.
And then when you factor in the types of innovation that drives the global economy, like the tech bubble in Silicon Valley, California contributes a shit ton to not just the economy, but major medical and technological advancement of the country.
I think we do just fine at feeding the poor too.

The reason shit like rice and bread and pork and chicken is so cheap and readily available is because it's all subsidized. I agree that perhaps we should be subsidizing different types of foods, but not that we should get rid of subsidies altogether.
Or do you want to pay $12/lb on chicken?

California has 39 million people and gets 55 electoral votes
The 23 smallest states have 39 million people and get 121 electoral votes.
The 39 million Californians aren't even worth half of what the 39 million people in those other states are worth. That's just fucked up.
