Paying 20% tax to the federal govt to be a part of the U.S is a gift. Its like people aren't capable of basic math.
you know what would be an even better gift? getting a 200% tax credit from the federal government for being part of the U.S. like New Mexico does.

And why in the world do you think California gets taxed? Because it has an insane cost of living compared to the rest of the U.S.

As for how many federal dollars it gets back given how much US Citizens who reside in it pay to the federal government. You want our govt spending money in the most expensive state in the U.S for govt services?
I would like to see a more equitable distribution of federal dollars. So, yes, i guess.

Use your brain and stop using silly statistics that carry no meaning. California doesn't pay shit to the federal govt. nor do the corporations that it claims results in its 2 Trillion+ GDP. Residents aka American citizens pay the taxes.
Thats right, and Residents should get the benefit of those taxes.

right, and the state of California is part of the U.S. In this hypothetical secession scenario, what difference does it make, in your mind, whether land is "federal" or not? Like, do you think California would secede, but be like "you can keep the parts that are federal land" or something?
you're pretty down on California. makes me wonder which deadweight state you live in.
I live in Washington...
And would not like to have California weighing us down.
No thanks with that pnw crap. Well California isn't even pnw.

people want to know why the police have become a military force, as I've said before, it's a direct response to the events that occur warranted a heavy police response. it's purely reactionary.
They get military equipment to spend money on shit to keep getting federal funding.
what can military equipment spend money on? how does it get the money?

You follow what is being said. Use your brain a little more and let it sink in. California should never get dollar for dollar w.r.t to what it pays in federal taxes. For one, there are efficiency losses and govt. costs money to run. For another, it's high cost of living and thus high wages would cause the dollars to be spent inefficiently.
It's not fun to speak untruths and carry on like a child. Most of the world's problems are due to it. Further, when you carry on like a child and spit on the country that your state is a part of that it depends significantly on, what else do you feel would be people's responses?
Do you even know the history of silicon valley (one of California's biggest economic industries?) It exists due to federal dollars :
But now that the state is flourishing, people want to forget their history and show their asses. That's nothing to be proud of. It's ignorant and something to be ashamed of. It's just fashionable in the lap of luxury to fan your ass in the wind. That era has ended.
The idea that any Western/PNW state can secede and sustain its present day state is asinine and ignorant. /thread

California has 3 things going for it that gives it an edge over any PNW state in hypothetical secession weathering ability.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_of_Los_Angeles
Quote:
The Port of Los Angeles, also called America's Port, is a port complex that occupies 7,500 acres (3,000 ha) of land and water along 43 miles (69 km) of waterfront and adjoins the separate Port of Long Beach. The port is located in San Pedro Bay in the San Pedro and Wilmington neighborhoods of Los Angeles, approximately 20 miles (32 km) south of downtown. A department of the City of Los Angeles, the Port of Los Angeles employs nearly 896,000 people throughout the LA County Region and 3.6 million worldwide. Around $1.2 billion worth of cargo comes in and out each day at the LA Port. The Ports Channel Depth is 53 feet (16 m). The port has 23 cargo terminals, 270 deepwater berths, 77 container cranes, 9 container terminals, and 113 miles (182 km) of on-port rail. The LA Port imports furniture, footwear, electronics, automobile parts, and apparel. The Port exports wastepaper, cotton, resins, animal feed, and scrap metal.[citation needed] The port's major trading partners are China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.[3][4][5]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_of_Long_Beach
Quote:
The Port of Long Beach, also known as the Harbor Department of the City of Long Beach, is the second-busiest container port in the United States, after the Port of Los Angeles, which it adjoins.[3] Acting as a major gateway for US–Asian trade, the port occupies 3,200 acres (13 km2) of land with 25 miles (40 km) of waterfront in the city of Long Beach, California. The Port of Long Beach is located less than two miles (3 km) southwest of downtown Long Beach and approximately 25 miles (40 km) south of downtown Los Angeles. The seaport generates approximately US$100 billion in trade and employs more than 316,000 people in Southern California.[4]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_of_San_Diego
Quote:
In 2009, The U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics ranked the Port of San Diego as one of America's top 30 U.S. containership ports[1] bringing in nearly 3,300,000 metric tons (3,200,000 long tons; 3,600,000 short tons) of cargo per year. Together with the National City Marine Terminal, the Port of San Diego is the primary port of entry for Honda, Acura, Isuzu, Volkswagen, Nissan, Mitsubishi Fuso, and Hino Motors into America. The Port also holds a 20-year lease with Dole Food Company bringing in much of the country's banana crop.

So what happens when the US government tells the countries that your recieving all that trade at the docks from they are not to be dealt with.
I'm sure all the countries across the world are not going to be on board with any of that. Let them have there tizzy fit. After a couple weeks California would be falling apart.
You have to sell all the shit your bringing in. We certainly aren't buying. Going to ship it back? Yes you have tons of major ports as you occupy a huge amount of land that has Pacific access. That isnt just for California it's for the entirety of the US. You truly are ignorant.

Not to mention your entire military gone. Hand over everything it's all paid for the government. Alright everyone get into camps now.
If we didn't do it first some other country would. And no way in he'll do we let Russia/China/etc get a foot hole in North America.
There is no way in hell California would survive a month. It'd be like spanking a child for being a little ass hole. Are you going to behave now? Want a pudding cup?
That what would probably incite a world War. California pulling that shit. Russia and China offering guns and occupying. It's on then. California would be nuked into an unlivable pit.

Yup, that's what happens, when someone succeeds they hand all of the things occupied in their land first, including the land itself right? It's like how when you start a war you balance your debt with the other nation first so the fight is more fair.

Because of reduced competition, a lower cost of starting up, more available real estate, and of course simply relative location to where these companies started.
Edit: Your point rests on the false premise that anyone who starts a business in a small city is avoiding a large city. It would be akin to saying, "Oh, you opened a donut shop in Ohio? New York must be a shit hole."
