I use one of these jars to a bag filled this much.
I think I'm also over filling

If that's a pint jar and you're filling your bags to around 5# with sub, then I'd say you're in the ballpark.  Tough to say without numbers.

cool, yeah it is a pint jar.

Just the bags look a little full to me that is all. I am following someone's bag tek. Was not sure if I miss counted the amount of cups I used.

:huxleyfacepalm:

Yup just made a new batch of bags. I definitely used 10 cups of wood pellets in those bags. Hopefully they colonize before contamination starts to take hold. Those are swordbelt bags.

Wait so your asking are you filling your bags enough? Hydrate your substrate bulk then use a gal pail to measure for each bag. Here is how i do it

.5 micron is a fine micron. 5.0 micron is another story. .5 micro you can use for just about everything from spawn to bulk sawdust bags to invitro reishi.

Nothing to worry about, I use the .5 and have never had any problems, I also fold a tyvec sleeve into them for sterilizing. I have let them cool different ways, in front of the hood, in a tote and just in the pc on the stove.

Marty I am talking about how gr0wer seals his bags before sterilization. He uses steam sterilization for them though.

In a PC would you have to slowly raise the heat and lower the heat to stop them from poping?

I seal mine for pc .  Just push all the air out , seal and fold excess under the bottom. The put something heavy on top to keep plastic out of pressure relief. No problems. Oh I do watch and open valves when pressure drops to zero , then let cool overnight in pc.

The 5 micron bags can be presealed.

Well seems the .5 microns can be. I am going to get my hands on one and test it.
