Golden teacher is brown?

I've been cultivating a golden teacher grow kit recently, everything going well so far. About three or four days ago pins started to show and are now apparently growing healthily. The largest pin is about 2-3" long now.
Except all of the caps are brown with white spots, not the typical gold/yellow color I see online. Is this just a different strain of GT, or am I growing something completely different? Don't have a camera, will try to find images of a similar shroom.
found this in a user's sig, looks almost identical, so I'm assuming it is in fact GT. Why then is it brown?

PNW_Shroomer said: Well, I think the idea for the name came from it being a golden brown color. Besides, pins have a much darker color than mature fruits. As it grows, the cap will become a more golden color, so don't worry. At any rate, most cubensis, with some exceptions, are nearly the same color, so the strain name has little to do with it. The white specs, I believe, are from the veil. They are completely normal.
Ok, thanks for explaining that. First time grower if it wasn't obvious :P

If you're using multispore as your inoculant, they could come out just about any different way (at least that has been my nooby experience so far). I'm just about completing my first successful grow with GT, and here's some examples of how wildly different the coloring can be:
This is my very first cake, hours away from harvest and at harvest. Very russet colored and one poster suggested it looked like KSSS mutants.
The 2nd cake started out with these very dark nubs, then flushed out to an actual "golden" color tone.
And then suddenly everything decided to be very blonde, which I of course dubbed "Blonde Teachers"
And then the most recent flushes decided to start out as dark ruddy nubs, and grow into blondies. I originally named this individual "Teacher's Uncut Penis" because it was looking similar to Penis Envy.
So yeah I reckon it's easy to get confused, wondering "am I growing what I think I am" but I chalk it up to multispore genetics and the fact that they're all the same species ultimately anyway and are bound to show characteristics of each other.
-------------------- Have fun on harvest day!

Conditions and random genetics from ms will have more to do with appearance than the name on a syringe or print. It's a big phenotype and cubes from most lineages will have the potential to exhibit anything in the phenotype.

I think that's a terribly wrong theory based off your few experiences.
This is also an ancient thread. And cap color has nothing to do with potency
