This is interesting. I just moved to CO and wasn't registered to vote here and haven't had time to get caught up with the state politics. Thank god this was voted no because I would literally move out of the state in May once my lease is up.

Not sure, but I sense sarcasm.
Mass incarceration is not a real issue?
Well it's never been much of an issue to me. In Alaska we could have 4 plants legally 10 years before the talk even started. I did go to Nevada for my 21st and get caught with a stem your in jail.
I guess it's always been such a foreign concept as they'd catch you with a bag and at most steal your bag and send you on your way. I don't agree with that at all but if your importing tons or growing tons ya that shit will get you in trouble.
Come on man, how can you not be mad about injustice just because it doesn't effect you personally? Hundreds of thousands of American's see their lives ruined over small amounts of marijuana every year. People lose their jobs, incur legal expenses they can't afford, go to jail, go on probation, get caught up in the system and fucked by it for the rest of their lives.
And it's not just about Marijuana. This is just the first step in ending the war on drug users. Am I right to assume that mushrooms, lsd, cocaine, mdma, ect. are all still illegal in Alaska? Probably most of them are felonies even for personal amounts. This is how we change that.

Honestly, this is one of the saddest things about Obama leaving office. I think he started the ball rolling on criminal justice reform and de-privatization. I don't really see trump caring very much about that kind of issue. He doesn't seem capable of putting himself in other people's shoe and without that empathy, he's not going to feel any reason to help people who are caught up in the justice system. He is with law enforcement anyways, and they are the number one impediment to reform. He has also demonstrated that once he's made up his mind about someone, he won't have them released from prison even if they have been found innocent.

I'm actually all for socialized health care, but this law was really stupid. Anyways Trump is going to do something about health care. Might was well let the federal government make the first move.
Colorado did approve a minimum wage increase, let your doctor kill you if you are terminally ill, and open the primaries to independent voters.
Kinda disappointed that we voted against Amendment T, ending slavery... 49.1 to 50.9

Im all for pooling together if that's what people want to do. But I shouldn't be forced to purchase health care from the government, anymore than I should forced to buy a house, car, or anything else for that matter.
I don't care if the gov healthcare plans stay in place as long as they remove the state lines to open up competition, remove the tax mandate, keep the pre-existing conditions, and yours kids until they are 26. Fact is, i'll take the tax penalty for as long as its a better financial value for than buying their shitty insurance with a $12-15K deductible for the lowest plan.

I totally agree with you Obama doesn't get the credit he deserves for starting criminal justice reform, something that seemed much more of a political risk 8 years ago than it does today. But I must have missed it, how did Trump demonstrate he wouldn't let people that have been found innocent out of jail? I am definitely worried about him escalating the police state, but I don't know why, or even how he would stop innocent people from being freed.

Why do we have to live in a situation where either you're fucked or I'm fucked?
Anyway, the positive in all this is that not having access to health care for most of my life taught me how to take care of myself so that I don't need it other than a catastrophe.
It was nice to be able to get myself tuned up though. I actually got a lot out of it. I guess I better take advantage of it while I still can.....

Getting rid of the state lines is the smartest thing Trump has proposed.
But it might be hard to keep pre-existing conditions covered without an individual mandate and tax penalty. Premiums would go up even faster than they are now. And as someone with type 1 diabetes I'd be pretty upset if they stopped forcing insurance companies to offer coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.
Rather than forcing people to buy insurance I would much rather just see a public option.

Obama has allowed states to blatantly violate federal law by legalizing recreational and medical marijuana, instructed federal law enforcement not to enforce federal law, enacted Sentencing reform for the disparity between crack and powder cocaine, commuted the sentences of 774 prisoners, mostly non-violent drug offenders (more than the previous 11 presidents combined,) and he has ordered the federal government to phase out private prisons as their contracts expire. Small steps, but more than any other president in history has done, and he still has time left.

I don't see anyone being with pre-existing conditions being denied healthcare anymore. Trump has said for years he agrees with that, as do almost all the Republicans. That's the one thing Obama will have on his legacy after this whole thing crumbles, and I think that's a good thing.
As to the public option, I just don't see it actually working. Yes, it makes perfect sense on paper and other countries do it. But looking at the track record of the US Government, it will end up in the same shit hole as social security, medicare, medicaid, and the VA hospitals. It's all bureaucracy and no action which ends up a limited numbers of doctors and low quality of care.

He is the least common denominator, I'll give you that. Wheras Trump will have to suck peoples cocks as president just as he had to suck the cocks of the banks when he went bankrupt for a few hundred million.
I like how he ran the shark tank, but I'm not sure if that qualifies him to be President. Will he be terrible or not? I'm pretty sure. I'm not positive though. It looks to me like any 5 year old can be President. It doesn't look like it necessarily takes any real skill or experience. The guy is obviously an incompetent moron. There is some possibility that not all of his policies will fuck up the entire world.
He might start a few wars and kill a few thousand people and claim it's in the name of defence. He is clearly not a generous person or a responsible person. He just decided he was bored with Trump Tower and now he wants to be President for 8 years because of all the prestige and promise of power that comes with the job.
This is basically the same story with any president. He is just the next guy in line. We all see him as someone that "might not fuck up so bad," and then on his way out he will take credit for all of the things he didn't turn into failures as achievements. Good for him.
Wash, rinse, repeat. Anything I'm missing?

I just don't see how you keep pre-existing condition people covered without either an individual mandate to keep healthy people in the insurance pool and level out premiums, or offering a public option. Maybe there is a better way, but if public health care works everywhere else I don't see why it can't work here. Corruption and incompetence are not exclusive to the US. It just takes political will, and not purposeful sabotage from the opposition party.
