using shrooms to fight depression

i want to try shrooms to help with my depression(i have dysthymia "chronic depression",part of it is that everything seems flat and boring,no wonder in life,no interests,no plans for the future,no ambitions). im am 25 now and when is was 18 i took lsd few times and the trips were great and the days after i felt great and everything was more beautiful and new(the trees more green etc..) exact opposite of how i feel now.if shrooms have similar effect i think it might help my condition greatly and maybe help on the deeper level like what i want to do with my life and such. the problem is that now i am more timid of taking stuff that mess with the brain because i took an anti depressant and had the worst experience in my life from only one pill which left me an anxious wreck for months(but now my anxiety is 99% gone with the help of meditation,exercise and cbt ).i smoke weed on a daily basis(it also helped me to get to normal after the pill) but i am anxious to try any other drug(recreational and pharmaceutical) on the other hand i read that shrooms are safe and cant harm you. but recently i read few posts on this forum about people who took shrooms and got really fucked after the trip and that scared me(i know you can have bad trips but didnt thought it can mess you up after the trip is over). so my question is how to approach this to avoid these types of things?i know about the importance of set and setting but i mean stuff other than that,maybe take very small dose at first to get familiar with the substance etc..

Hey, it works for me. Mushrooms will take you a bit further spiritually than LSD in my experience. Mushrooms can also scare you a lot more than LSD in most cases. I don't have any kind of diagnosis but I suffer from horrible existential depression every day. Psychedelics bring me back to the state of being wired into reality rather than be a hermit who hates everything because we can never answer the questions that I want answers to.

I would suggest start with very small dosages and see if you freak out 2 gr or something of dried medicine.
I wish one day you could do this with the help and supervision of a trained therapist but alas..
Researchers from Imperial College London gave 12 people psilocybin, the active component in magic mushrooms. All had been clinically depressed for a significant amount of time — on average 17.8 years. None of the patients had responded to standard medications, such as selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs), or had electroconvulsive therapy.
Brain scans reveal how LSD affects consciousness One week after receiving an oral dose of psilocybin, all patients experienced a marked improvement in their symptoms. Three months on, five patients were in complete remission.
