Urgent Help Drying

So this is my first season picking mushrooms. Last week I picked and dried about 150 lib caps using a little heater however after 3 of us doing 50 each (all our first time) and not really getting past a level 1 sort of high we think the heater caused a loss of potency. I have now today picked nearly 1000 and I planned to just dry them in my chest of drawers on newspaper however after doing more research I'm worried they're going to rot. I intend to use all of them up in under a month but not any before two weeks away from now. I don't want to spend a lot of money on anything but if it's necessary then I was thinking of buying something like this tomorrow; ~ http://www.lakeland.co.uk/24337/No-Spill-Hanging-Moisture-Traps ~
Is this a crucial investment or do I need something different like a fan or nothing at all. I don't have a fan at the moment or any desiccants.
I have done thorough research into this however I did thorough research before and found several people who said a heater was fine to dry shrooms so I now do not trust my own research and I really want some clarified information to avoid my picks rotting or losing a significant amount of potency. Thank you in advance.

Get a dehydrator! Maybe a couple of them!
Seriously, it's the best way to dry, and anything else is just a waste of your time and fruits!
Heres mine. Works great for me, no complaints here.

Desicant is affordable if you have no other uses for a dehydrator. I make jerky and dried fruit with mine as well. Good luck with the libs! Dick

If you will not buy the dehydrator use a fan on low. I used to have a wooden box 18inch by 18inch by 24 inch tall, with screen accro. Had a 75 watt incandescent light bulb in the bottom with a small fan circulating air. When checked with a thermometer the shroom area was right around 100F. ALL shrooms were dry in 24-48 hours. Small and thin ones were done in under 6hr usually.
If you got a heat lamp laying around use that and a fan. adjust distance between light and mushrooms to control temp.

if you can get a dehydrator, i would highly reccomend the Presto digital (about $70). There are cheaper ones that will do the trick tho...by far the easiest method

I like to use a heat lamp.
Libs may be hard to dry. Ive dried pan cyans (similar to libs in size) and it burnt them.
Small shrooms dont do well in dehydrators in my experience.
I like to use a heat lamp with lamp pointing down at layer of tin foil with shrooms on it.

Thanks for all for your quick replies, I've arranged to pick up a dehydrator tomorrow morning from someone local.
Should I do anything other than lay them on paper until then or will they most likely be alright. About 300 were picked yesterday and about 700 today that are a bit fresher.
Thanks again

I don't get why people uses dehydrators. What do they cost in the US? I use a small ventilator. I dried 20 g fresh P. semilanceata within three or four hours just by pointing the ventilator at them.

$30 or less of you don't get one fancier than you need. And they do the job with less energy consumption turned into light.

Put a fan blowing over them.
Then put them in the fridge.
You can get cracker dry material just by using the fridge.

Well that was cheap. But i think i'd still let my 15w fan do the job.

If you're only drying 20 grams of fresh mushrooms, then no, don't buy a damn dehydrator just for that. We use dehydrators because we have a hell of a lot more than 20g fresh material to dry, and 95% of the people on this board are primarily concerned with drying mushrooms that are considerably meatier than P. semilanceata.

Well i used the same fan for drying about 1,5 kg fresh shrooms, cubes. I did take a lot longer than what a dehydrator would do it in, but i see no reason to rush.
Idk maybe i'm just too cheap.
