ID Request "Gymnopilus..." ??
    #23811411 - 11/07/16 11:31 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
Vancouver Wa. Growing on what I think is Alder chips.

Gills:
Yellow. Adnexed.

Stem:
red tint like cap color with black?. With veil same color as cap.

Cap:
Convex. Red. Texture is little bumps.

Spore print color:
Yellow/brown. Edit: more rust color orange. I was to eager to see what color it was.

Bruising:
No bruising that I can tell due to color of stem. I have not tried to bruise cap at all.

Sorry information is kinda vague I think the pics will be able to answer any and all questioms you have.

It would be cool if they were active. I have been searching high and low for cyans its been my gaol for this season (my first) and I stumbled on these.

SWEET!!

Thank you Lhun! Now does anyone have experience with these? I was reading somewhere the bitter taste is hard to palate and taking them was not worth it.

Drink your coffee black and your liquor straight?

Just eat em fresh. All of the lot.

They do not get too intense. At all. Very mild.

I've made tea with them 8 times so far this fall and the best result was from 140g wet soaked in lemon juice(1/4 cup) then steeped in 2 cups of water for 20 min. Chop them pretty fine and I added a couple apple slices to help with the bitterness. Well worth the effort have fun!

I love this forum!

You guys are awesome!

We dried all of them :/  I wish i knew about the tea earlier but thats ok I know where a lot more is. I went by the guide lines in this forum for Gymnopilus luteofolius level 2 last night so 3gs and got nothing. This morning we did more research and a couple different people said 15-20g dried. Did that and waited 1 hour and got maby a micro dose. Just put down 5g more then read this. I am going to just finish the rest of what I have and hope for something if not then harvest more and make tea.

I will. We have just started being interested in mycology. It's been a little over a month. I am still learning proper etiquette and when best to pic. After reading your post about greed it made me stop and think. I am trying to do research on inoculation of wood chips and how to spread mycelium. I need to reassess how and why I am doing this. I have "THE BUG" and am super excited that me and my wife have something we are equally stoked about.

Ok so managed to get down 15gs then an hour later 16.5gs then said what the hell and choked down the last 30gs. Absolutely nothing but bloated. :frown: I went back to the spot today the ones I got and dried were on a alder chip pile a pile as tall as me almost 6'. The pile had ben spread flat over the area. We went to another chip pile the city spread last year and found more lutes. I brought back another good amount only taking the mature ones and leaving some mature ones to do their thing. I made my wife the 140gs wet tea like Rakish Derby said. She said and I noticed "got a good boost in energy" she had racing thoughts and thats about it. So these are weak I guess? I have 370gs wet left so we are going to try tea at 123gs 3 times every half hour and see if that does anything. We are still hunting for more potent Psilocybe too but not having any luck... but still having fun.
