Dehydrating shrooms with Microwave

For years, some people have used the microwave to dehydrate there fruits and vegetables. I would love to see someone try this out on some shrooms. It will be great too see if it works and how much of potency will be loss.
Dehydrate in a Microwave:
1. Put the fruit slices onto the microwave plate.
2. Set the timer for 30 minutes!
3. The key is to make sure you're using the "defrost" setting, which removes the water and moisture, but does not cook/ burn the fruit!
4. Check back 30 minutes later, if not fully dehydrated, flip it over and give another 15 minutes.
5. When done, transfer the fruit to a cooling rack.

I'm sure it would be fine but I can't think of a single scenario where that would be a good option.

I sure as hell wouldn't do it, but give it a try and report back.

I think even the defrost mode generates too much heat on some spots. If you warm up food in the microwave you often notice that the outer parts are hotter than the middle. That could be critical if it gets too hot and starts to burn the mushrooms. I would try it with button mushrooms first. The defrost mode may differ between manufacturers.
I don't know. Just my thoughts..
But of course someone should try this. I am always positive about experiments.

too much heat would be nearly 500F, you can fry cubes in a deep fryer I'm sure the microwave is fine
The only thing I've used a microwave for in the last couple years is melting agar. and boiling a cup of water or two
fuck microwaves

That's true. A lot of heat would be needed to destroy the actives. Heat isn't a problem in most drying methods. I just think about the single spots of my pasta that look almost torched

That what using the defrost button is suppose to eliminate.
Some members say that H20 breaks down potency, and that fruits should be dried immediately by cranking up some heat to it.
This will be a very interesting experiment for us all, it will really put the theory of TOO MUCH HEAT IS BAD to the test.

It's not really that interesting for most of us because the "too much heat" concept mostly matters to nubs who are trying to dry in the oven, or some other ghetto way (microwave.)

Most of us have our drying methods figured out at least lol

I wouldn't worry as much about the heat destroying the actives as I would the radiation.

when you say radiation you do know that microwaves are non-ionizing on the spectrum of radiation.

Yea, I know. That would just be my biggest worry. I had a friend put an 1/8 in a bowl of chili and nuked it to warm it up, and he didn't get anything off of it. I put a post up on here roughly a year ago asking about it, and the best answers I got was irradiating the actives possibly deactivated them.

those are what we call noob answers. people just posting what they think not what they know.
chances are any way you ate that 1/8th probably wasn't very strong to begin with. the quickest way to fuck up your potency is taking to long to dry or letting them get soggy again

so you never use a microwave for your food?
"Don't eat those mushrooms man. They're radio-active"

eh... eew. I'm no cook but I'll rather starve than eat MW food.
a MW is good for heating up coffee if I got stoned and forgot to drink my last cup. not much else.

Oh no, wasn't me. I don't eat chili. It probably was just bunk shrooms tho. Plus, the only time I didn't get anything was when I ground them up and put them in chocolate milk.
I just found that old thread. I had actually jumped in on another thread about destroying actives to ask the question then. The answer they guy gave kind of made since, so I never looked into it anymore.
Here's a link to it so you guys can check it out and debunk the info or whatever.
