Why is the mycelium growing like this?

I have been trying to find a tread on this topic but can not. I started this batch a few weeks ago. I see the green mold, I did not sterilize the substrate beginner problem I know. But why is the mycelium growing like this? Is it good or bad?

Kinda cool looking. Good candidate for this thread: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22222940/fpart/34#22222940
Anyway, it's totally fucked and needs to go in the trash.

Sprouted seed roots? Not sure why they'd all grow upside down but that sure looks like roots to me. What's the unpasteurized sub consist of?

Why, because the above posters said so? Obviously there is mold all over those pics but the root-like structures could very well actually be roots. If he used manure and didn't pasteurize there could be all kinds off seeds in it which could terminate. This could also be the reason the mold is heavier in those areas....we all know about endospores grains/seeds. Besides, you familiar with any molds that grow like that? Structures that big would be indicative of fungi perfecti.

And there's a smorgasbord of molds in there. I can spot at least 3 at a glance.

how much fresh air exchange do you have? I remember seeing similar structures on another bulk grow but don't remember which thread that was.
Anyways, the bright green contam almost looks like cyanobacteria or algae. Cool.

Plants 99% of the time will never grow upside down. They only grow with gravity. Roots will go into the dirt and vegetative growth will grow toward air and light. I say 99% because almost nothing is absolute.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Never heard the term before so thank you for the vocabulary expansion.

There is definitely some mucor about to sprout too...
I'd take that substrate to the backyard and burn it. If you let that thing go too much longer - you'll have to burn down the entire room it sporulated in to get rid of all of the babies it threw everywhere.
Do you want a lifetime supply of contaminates? Cause that's how you get a lifetime supply of contaminates...
