Does anyone have experience with FSA loans?

Curious if anyone's gotten financing through them and if they'd like to share their experiences!

I've had one for horticulture. I think it depends on your local office. Everything was ok until a new manager came in . He was upset that i even had a loan, said that I shouldn't have been Elgibile . Was not very understanding about getting his money back asap. Just my experience.

Eek!  I was under the impression that the process would be fairly uniform.  Thanks for sharing, Quadman.  I'm curious if that squares with others' experiences.

it's all on their website, looks pretty straightforward just be prepared to wait a long ass time and maybe for nothing.  probably a lot easier to qualify if you are young and already have an established business.  and have filed a schedule F tax for the last year or 3.

Yeah, I've been checking out all of the details on the website.  The thing that struck me as weird about the whole setup was that you essentially have to be turned away from private lenders first in order to qualify.  But considering the FSA rates are next to nothing compared to a traditional loan, it also seems weird that the government is giving to people who have less repayment ability than more qualified borrowers (who then have to pay a higher rate).

It seems like more people are getting SBA loans instead of FSA even though the terms of the FSA seem way more favorable.  Hmm...

It's in the definition of agricultural. I think it has gotten a little broader now? At the time they couldn't wait to give you money. Then times got rough and there were quite a few defaults. That's when they got rough.
