I can be like that sometimes, but if I start to crave something, I figure that's my body telling me I need something which is in that food. So I often eat non-meat sources of protein, and then every so often I eat meat/eggs when I crave them. I am not much for supplements though, would rather get what I can from food sources.
I found a grain called Chenopodium pallidicaule (Kaniwa), which is really good for you for a number of reasons, and if you haven't had a lot of red meat in your diet, provides a good source of iron to fill the void.
My recent problem is when it gets cold here, having to switch from a high carb diet, to a low carb diet, and getting constipated, shits hell man, every year this happens to me. I know you can take fiber supplements, and eat proper veggies which are higher in the proper type of fiber (soluble vs. insoluble), but shit gets me every year, no pun intended.

this is all me. I feel cravings are your bodies way of telling you what you need. so when I eat meat its due to cravings. but thats pretty rare. Mostly vegan now and thats working

I could happily live on pure animal flesh and eggs for the rest of my days. I only eat carbs if my activity level calls for them.
I'll probably get bowel cancer with that methodology, considering the shit they pump into the meat we get sold, but fuck it, I'd rather live the way I want to live than to be sensible about it. I've seen too many sensible people die to consider that path worth following.

Constipated? How? Low carb high protein usually means you're eating lots of salads and vegetables.

ya but even then. Getting most of my calories from protein my body doesn't like it. Like I said. Its prolly genetics. My buddy pretty much exclusively eats steak, butter, and coconut oil/cream. tons of green veggies. But if it works, it works

It probably is genetic. I have hypoglycemia and hypothyroidism and low blood pressure. So I'm constantly craving salty foods, and I'm not supposed to be even simplex carbs even. There's probably a physical reason I constantly crave meat and protein as my main meal.

As i said earlier in the thread, I am a firm believer that the whole foods that your body craves are a sign of what your body needs. I strongly am against a vegatarian diet from an ethics standpoint and support it from a "what works for your body" standpoint

Likewise. That seems a baffling perspective to me. Some very convincing arguments for vegetarianism below, that have caused me to really look to try it, but my body doesn't respond well to the diet.
Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. --Albert Einstein
A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral. --Leo Tolstoy
Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages. --Thomas Edison
By eating meat we share the responsibility of climate change, the destruction of our forests, and the poisoning of our air and water. The simple act of becoming a vegetarian will make a difference in the health of our planet. --Thích Nhit Hanh, The World We Have: A Buddhist Approach to Peace and Ecology
Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight. --Albert Schweitzer
You put a baby in a crib with an apple and a rabbit. If it eats the rabbit and plays with the apple, I'll buy you a new car. --Harvey Diamond

I think much of health is mind, body, soul type thing, meaning don't get into fads you see on TV or in magazines, your body will tell you if what you're consuming is proper or not. I think fads just increase your chances of being fearful of things, you think if you eat to much red meat you're going to die of colon cancer, so then you fret about eating red meat, and this creates anxiety and stress, which is even worse for you, it's a vicious cycle.
We're just consumers in the eyes of the people creating these fads, so really all we represent is money to them, they don't care about us, but it's up to us to feel ourselves out, and understand that each persons body is different (alkaline/acidic) and each person needs different things to make it work properly. Know thyself.
I went vegan a couple years ago, and literally wasted away, I was consuming massive amounts of calories daily, lots of fats from raw seeds/nuts, hemp/pea protein, had a ton of energy, but I felt like it was screwing my hormones up. I read that having healthy fats in my diet was supposed to help regulate such things, but I guess not, my sex drive was super low, but it's never been through the roof to begin with.
When I eat meat/eggs or use butter 3-4 times a week, usually at night, I feel a huge rush in my head, which feels like I am being tickled there, which is strange, my facial hair will grow much faster too, so do my nails, and my muscles appear larger, and my sex drive goes up, so am thinking there something I need from those sources of food which I wasn't getting from a vegan diet, and trust me I tried a ton of different things which were vegan to see if I got the same feeling those animal sources gave me.
If one looks at our teeth, we're evolved to eat plants and animals, at least I read something about that years ago. So I think one should consume animal products sparingly, and eat lots of nuts, seeds, healthy grains, veggies, and fruits.
Another thing, there are so many animal products I want to try, I remember eating ox tail with a Rasta when I lived in Miami, it was really good, I wonder what other interesting meats from other cultures are out there to try.
I want to experience new things in all ways of life, new music, new foods, new wines, new people, new beliefs, I am an explorer, and never want to stop exploring this reality and what it has to offer.

I get this too, apart from the head rush bit. When I eat a lot of salmon, as I usually always do (2-3 times a day) I can even feel a boost in my memory and cognitive functioning.

You and me both brother. That paradigm is basically what I've spent half my life living, and I've no intention of stopping. Everything is just so fucking good!!
It can be pretty easy to get stuck in a rut sometimes though; I guess we all get that from time to time, and it can wear you down. I can't see a life of adventure ever wearing me down though. Nor have I ever heard anyone say that it does. So few seem to really live it though.

No, no need when I'm eating this much salmon. I take pretty hardcore multivitamins though, cause I eat near fuck all vegetables. Not that they're a great substitute, but as has been said a few times in this thread, I've spent years trying and testing what works best for my body, and it's definitely this. Oats, fruit and eggs in the morning, and then pure fat and protein for the next 4-5 meals.
Unless I need tons of strength and endurance, then I hit the starchy carbs like sweet potato and wholewheat pasta pretty hard. I gain a lot of size due to muscle memory (I once weighed 1/4 again of what I do now) eating that way, but I'm way past working out for the sake of muscle growth. Carrying the extra bulk just makes me feel like I'm putting strain on my my heart and leaves me slow, if strong...

I eat fish and seafood more than any other type of meat, so I don't need omegas. It's better for you to get your nutrients straight from the food source instead of swallowing pills.
