Take some more pics closer to the darker areas with a little more light but from what I see in that pic that does not look all that concerning.

Not sure on how long they been colonizing from your post but if its been over a week since the rest of the cake turned white I would flip the jar. The weight of the cake resting on the glass make the bottom a little tougher for the mycelium to colonize that part.

here you go good sir. i flipped em over ye. so do you reckon its ready for birth? i already have one jar with a tiny shroom growing out of it and the bottom is identical.

They look fine to me. 3-5 days upside down, make sure not to cover your holes so they can still "breathe" while the mycelium finishes colonizing the cake completely inside and out. Birth, Dunk for 6-10 hours, Roll in fresh vermiculite and place in their new habitat you created for them. Best of luck.

No problem man.

If that cake was extra wet when you created it I would keep and eye around the darker areas for anything that may look like its oozing or discoloring anymore. The extra water creates a environment that is better suited for bacteria rather then the mycelium. If you see anything turning yellow that is a sign of the antibodies in the mycelium trying to fight off the bacteria.

sometimes water leaks to the bottom of the cake, delaying growth.

Your jar look fine thou. Cool pic too. what does the mycelium on the side of the jar look like?

the mycelium on the side is thicker than the stuff on the bottom however i wouldnt call it 100% white but maybe 97% white. however it been like that for a while.

Could be just the strain.

What strain is it?

Some strains are more rhizomorphic than others, cause this effect.

:knowwhatnevermind:

Yeah man that looks fine, especially since the 1/2pint jars hold so damn much substrate the gravity packs that shit down against the glass on the bottom...
