Hi everyone. First time trying to make cake, learning so much already. Spent some money getting some jars inoculated properly.
Think i ended up getting a wrong moisture content wrong and too tall of jars however. All except one, smaller jar. 1 Week in and looks to be growing mycelium and no signs of contaminants.

Does this look good for a beginner ?

Wash your hands! Hygiene is a very important step in this process.

I don't think you need to cover them with foil. They need air exchange. I hope someone will confirm this for you. Good luck with your growing.

I left my foil on for 75 percent of the colonozation. No contaminations and all 6 of my cakes are fruiting. But I didn't use jar lids to inoculate I used foil lids. Unfortunately the foil part is what people are gonna focus on. Your dry verm layer will protect your cakes. Wash your hands dude like seriously. Other wise looks like you got some mycelium growth going on. Congrats. The next couple weeks gonna be very long for you. But in the end it's totally worth it.
