i've read if you dont set the cake the way it was sitting in the jar when you birth it it will grow upside down. this doesnt make since to me, but maybe its true and thats why they are growing upside down?

they are growing towards the perlite because it is white and highly reflective so they grow towards the brightness, thinking it's light coming from above.
a brighter light above them will fix the problem which really isn't a problem anyway.
another option is to put a bit of green/red food coloring in the water you use to moisten the perlite.

thanks for the help i now have this prob solved i used food coloring and i raised the cake,put it on a coffe mug and in the last day they are starting to turn up thanks hippy
